He's badly tethered. Watch where you're kiting him!

@weasel66 I'm recommending being atleast one lvl higher than quest informs use full heavy armor of your lvl with few potions.

I found him more difficult than Doshia or Gutsripper. Only managed to defeat him on levels 10-11 with food to boost available health plus potions to keep me alive. This on a Khajiit nightblade. I am the first to admit I'm not great at combat, but between his summons, his lightning which is not easy to interrupt, and the fact that he goes back to full health when I run away to stay alive, he wrecked me.

I recommend being at level 9-10 at least with updated gear, eating a health boost food and health regen boost drink before the fight, and keeping a potion handy. I had some potions that gave both magicka and health (73 or 93 points of each, my memory fails me) and although I only used a couple, it does not hurt to be prepared.

    He shouldn't be healing himself.

You can kite him up and down the stairs and around his island, but if you swim too far away or run to the far corners of the room he'll reset.

He's tricky, and Ayrenn isn't much help when she stops fighting halfway through. :/

I ended up putting down a Blood Altar (the heal from the Undaunted line) and never leaving the area. Spam AOEs when he summons his minions, and try to take them out quickly. Even my tanky kitty had a rough time withstanding his damage despite the altar AND her spiky DK armor AND a damage shield from her two-hand line..., so every defense you can find is a MUST. Potions and skill management are key here.

Failing that, leave and level up a bit. There's no shame in leaving a solo dungeon and retrying it when you can handle it. I did it with Doshia.

"If you were trapped in your house for, say, a year, how would you pass the time?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "I suppose I could use the break. I have a lot of business holdings now that need management."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "I think that I would enjoy writing a memoir."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "Would this one be able to go outside, to the nearby river? It's hard to fish without water!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "Who is forcing me to stay inside, and where can I find them?"
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "And why would I want to go outside in the first place? Too much to be done in the workshop."
Lorelai Magpie, breton master thief: "I'd go nuts. Lucky for me, I have a little experience sneaking out!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "I would continue my training to keep my skills sharp."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "I suppose it would be lucky, then, that I built a shrine to Mephala in my backyard."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hate being inside even when I'm not forced to be. GET. ME. OUT."
Madam Argentia, vampire dunmer aristocrat: "I suppose it would be more of the same. I have a rather... contentious relationship with the sun."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'd have to house train my bear..."
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "What Lorelai said."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one would like a rest from her grand adventures. Her jewel shop runs out of stock!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "Provided that I am confined to Artaeum, I do not think I will want for things to occupy my time."
Shauna Blackfire, redguard necromancer: "Sounds like paradise. I hate people."
Kirniel the Undying, cursed bosmer warrior: "I would feel useless, not being able to fight."
Echoes-from-Dragons, argonian who thinks she's a dragon: "All the better to count my hoard!"

The only reason he should go back to the altar is if you go into the water/ jump up on a ledge & break aggro. Simply put, if he cannot reach you he resets.

horse ***. He breaks aggro if I even get off the little concrete pad he is standing on. I had him to about 10% health but was about to die so I ran about 10 feet to the side and he healed to full. I nearly threw my mouse across the room as it was about the 8th time I'd tried him

My restoring light sword n board Templar killed him on level, but it wasn't the first attempt!

My Templar could tank him all day, but his adds are a problem. After a few deaths, I realised that the adds come at 75%, 50% and 25% of his health.

Also, Queen Ayrenn stops fighting if she takes more than a certain amount of damage. So, this is what I do -

    1) Tank him down from 100%-75%, letting the Queen wail away on his back. The goal is not to break any dps records but to reach the 75% mark with as much leftover health, magika and stamina as possible then...

    2) when an add comes, immediately switch to the add and kill it ASAP. Hopefully Queen Ayrenn will tank Norion while you're busy.

    3) if he needs any more dps to bring him to the next spawn point do so, but focus on regen If you can!

When the last add is gone, terminate Norion with extreme prejudice.

Magika regen food helped a lot..

Well, he definately _is_ healing himself! That, combined with his way overpowered summons, makes this quest practically impossible. /bugged.

Use interrupts and knockdowns. Focus on him as much as you can. if you kill his adds and don't get him quick he'll summon more so try to ignore the adds. (not easy, I know)

Just did the quest on a Kajiit DK archer. First time I ever got him on the first try :)

same here - I was still on the pad, I had killed his minions, he was working on the queen at the edge of the pad when I started back in on him, he suddenly reset to full health. Leaving it now until I am a couple of levels above him.
    - If I wanted to play solo - why the hell am I paying a sub for a mmo I ask myself.

You resurrected a post I made in April ! How quaint !

I recently tried him again on an alt, a restoration staff Templar healer. It was disgustingly easy by comparison -

Unfortunately, Stamina builds, Weapon builds, Heavy armour, non healing classes, Melee classes , these things are all underpowered in this game. It's as well to learn this at level 8, if you have, as Saruman would say, "chosen the way of pain!". *

Now watch this alt take on 3 mobs at once, levels above her, and wail at the injustice in the world.
