speech/chat bubbles/text

The game feels incredibly lonely and antisocial with the current chat system. The chat box is barely noticeable and when attempting to converse with other players this makes it difficult. I can't tell you the amount of times I've tried to speak with some one but have been ignored because they simply didn't know I was speaking. I can only assume this is the reason anyhow as I too have noticed that I've been ignoring some one by mistake.

I deffinately think this game NEEDS chat bubble. Especially since some combat systems and the trade and economy systems relies on player interaction so heavily.

I hope this makes sense and I hope this is addressed thank you for reading.

Hi! I completely agree with you - there is actually a forum petition going on about this issue regarding the lack of chat bubbles here (Floating Text/Chat Bubble Add-On).
  • Geezer5000
    Totally agree.

There are some conflictive Statements from Zenimax:
    - No Auction-house to increase the communiaction between Players, but no Chat bubbles?!
    - RP-Guild-Forum, but no Chat bubbles?!

Chat bubbles are important for all parts of the game
    - RP: to see and feel that the world is alive
    - PVE: laying dead in gras but nobody can see me and rezz me
    - PVP: "Incoming!" You can react immediately if you see which Player is writing.

    ....just a couple of examples.

Chat bubbles are crucial and very important.

Please Zenimax don't make the same mistake like Bioware with SWTOR.

If they do add them then they need to give us the option to turn them off.

    I hate chat bubbles.

Nothing irritates me more in a game than floating text above someones head.

They'd have to make them optional. I would consider them intrusive and since I play in first person for the most part in PVE, I'm still not gonna see your chat bubble. I still feel the best way to converse with someone is through whisper. So have your chat bubbles, but don't expect everyone to use them.

@Geezer5000‌ Why would you be asking for a res in PVE? You can use the wayshrine for free. The only reason to ask for a res in PVE is if you're in a 4-man dungeon. In that case, you're grouped and people can see you are there.

Personally, I walk by people laying on the ground dead in zone all the time. If I did not see you die, you're not getting a res from me. I'm just going to assume you're afk. I've had that happen in Cyrodiil where I res'd someone only to have them not move and just die again. Res'd again. Died again. After that, I just left him/her laying there. Already wasted two soul gems on that.

Yep, I don't bother trying to rez anyone either, not any more. People either chose to spawn at a wayshrine before I could get to them or they didn't accept the rez. Let them lie there. :D

I have a chat alert mod which I set to play a noise when anyone uses /tell or /say, which would help a lot with that.

the "rezz" was just an example. :s
You don't Need bubbles in PVE....shut them off.

Totally unnecessary. I find them to be annoying and ugly, and for close to two decades have not used them at all....and gotten by just fine with RP, grouping, questing....pretty much every aspect of the games that I have played.

But, if you want them...I'm not going to say no, you can't have them...unless there's no option to disable them. THEN we have problems.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

I think an option to have speech bubbles would be great.
I think an option to turn speech bubbles off would be great.

I wonder if an addon is capable of doing this stuff for:
    /say /yell /emote /guild /group

I could see it being really good in Cyradiil.. or not..
Atleast if people can shutup for 5 seconds you would be able to see the leader give instructions outside of the zone spam, a chat bubble would be cool.

At the same time, maybe options to restrict what shows up as chat bubbles.
Like enable it for group, but disable it for everything else and vice versa, the option to customize how it works would be the best part.
  • rolopololoco
    It's a great idea

yes, I would use them :D

I agree that they should be optional, because otherwise we walk straight to the other side of the ring. All Deadra Princes together forbid that those who dislike chat bubbles would find themselves in the place where those who like chat bubbles are today. It will be very ugly.

As I said in another thread about the issue, as long as they make them optional (have the option to either enable/disable them) I don't see a problem. Same goes for nameplates. I personally wouldn't use either, but can see why people would want them.

Make sure you're sending feedback in game as well using /feedback. I dunno that devs see stuff on the forums at all.

I don;t mind them for people that want them as long as I can turn them off.

Personally, I don't like seeing them.

As others have said, if they add them then they need to be optional.

I'm not a fan of them personally.

I personally dislike them. I hate floating text above people's heads , it is annoying and on of my biggest pet peeves in a game. (I don't know why)

With that said I would support putting them in game with the option to turn them off. I know everyone has a different play style and just because I dislike them with a heartfelt passion, does not mean other people should go without.

If added they need an option to turn off and I am fine with it

Zenimax has said they have a working speech bubble interface they had been internally testing ready so they'll be implementing them soon.

The problem with that is you have to actually get close enough...and the targeted person stay still long enough...to pull up the interact menu to send a whisper. It is, in practice, too difficult/tedious to actually work.

However, once someone in the vicinity uses a /say, then you can click on the name and send a whisper. But you cannot directly whisper someone just by knowing the name of the toon in front of you.
