Because this would only make sense and just be flat out nicer.

Kind of tired of having merchants repair my items when I have a decent level in that crafting area yet can only make the item from scratch, not repair it.

I agree it would make sense, but the repair costs being as high as they are nobody would ever roll an Alchemist or and enchanter or provisioner.

If the Item builders save 1000g + repairing even low level equipment I would abandon my current skills faster than you could blink and start levelling blacksmithing :)

You can already do this, but you need to buy repair kits from vendors. Anyone can repair any item...you don't need any skills for it.

I stopped doing it myself because it is just easier and faster (and probably cheaper) to have a vendor do it.

Sure that would be nice. But you can bet we would have to pay for flux like silica sand or borax and it just happened to cost as much as the vendor would take for fixing our stuff :P

Yep kind of odd that we can make the gear but have to pay the local chef to repair it for us....Yeah ok we can use repair kits but that's just as odd. I used Steel to make my boots not a repair kit.
