Dual wield and that last passive

Game is down so this is from memory. There doesn't seem to be a difference between weapons until that last passive -- axes bleeding, dagger crit, etc. if i use axe in one hand and dagger in the other - do i get both bonuses? if so, why use two of the same weapon type unless you get more bleeding damage by using two axes instead of one...
