I am looking for a trading guild with a trader in a prime location. I have been actively trading for about 6 years now and sell well and donate every week.

I enjoy conversations in guild chat, but am distracted by long periods of constant chatter, so having a balance is preferred.

If your guild would be a good fit for what I'm looking for please reply here, or mail or whisper me in game.

Unless they literally turn off chat permissions for all guild members, no guild can make this promise to you.

With up to 500 members, spontaneous conversations can spring up at any time. I've yet to meet the guild with rules of "please don't be chatty in our guild chat" or "you're only allowed to discuss ESO in our guild chat". As a GM, I love seeing guildies interacting and bonding in our guild chat.


You do have the ability to turn off any guild's chat or put it in a seperate tab on its own, though, so that you can tune out for as long as you want when people are socializing in guild chat.

I know this and I enjoy conversations. It makes the guild feel alive. Just not non-stop chatter about whether or not someone's husband should grow his beard back, which I experienced in a guild I tried out yesterday. It was 2 hours of personal chatter like this without a pause before I finally just left.

Saying what I am looking for in a guild will help me find one that would be a good fit for me. One with a balance of chatter, mostly game related, with periods of quiet, would be ideal.

I was in @hiyde 's guild (Bleakrock Barter, Vvardenfell location) for about 10 years I guess. Eventually he was forced to kick me because I stopped selling lol, but no hard feelings, I still shop at the BBC guilds first when I need mats.

Anyway, I had great experiences with his guilds and would definitely go back if I ever decided to start selling stuff again -- I just focus on PVP for the most part nowadays and had saved up enough gold to buy mats whenever I need.

I completely muted guild chat, joined their discord and soon muted it, just completely ignored for the most part other than my weekly raffle ticket purchase and managing my stock. Great place and even though I generally ignored everything I always had great interactions with Hiyde and the other officers

The point is that spontaneous is spontaneous. That same beard convo could have happened in literally any guild.

There are zero guilds I'm aware of that throttle or ban non-eso conversation (hot button topics like religion or politics excepted), so it's going to be on you to find your perfect fit.

Thanks for the kind words. Door is always open if you need a trading guild again.

@SilverBride Another thing you could try that I have done is in your main chat tab have the guild chat muted, but have it unmuted in a second chat tab for those times you want to participate without constantly fiddling with settings.

@hiyde I do not expect any guild to forbid any type of chat. I know there may sometimes be chatter I'm not interested in and that is all fine. But I will have a much better chance of finding a guild that is a good fit for me if I say what I'm looking for.

I understood your post. You stated that you don't like constant chatter or conversations of a personal nature in guild chat and gave an example of a guild you joined for 1 day and left because of a conversation about someone's beard.

What I'm trying to be helpful with is that no guild can guarantee that conversation won't happen in their guild at any time, nor can any guild guarantee that a ~500 member guild won't get chatty, unless they specifically ban all non-game topics, which is something I've never seen in 20 years of running guilds.

Perhaps this is an opportunity to found your own guild, based on your specifications!

Nowhere have I said I don't want conversation in guild chat. Nowhere have I said that I want any topics banned. Nowhere.

All I'm looking for is a balance in the chat.

So I posted what would be a good fit for me. I am sure there are guilds that would be great and I hope I hear from them.

I never said you did. What I said was it would be the only way to guarantee those things would never happen.

I never asked for any guarantees that anything would never happen. I even said "I know there may sometimes be chatter I'm not interested in and that is all fine." in a previous post.

I would appreciate if my original post stay the focus of this thread so I can hopefully find a guild that would work for me. This is just detracting from the purpose of this thread.
