Overland Difficulty

Okay, I’ll admit it. I was one of those skeptics who didn’t agree with the overland difficulty setting, but having played it for a while now, I like it especially since it will assist in achieving CP quicker. And I like it because it makes you really rely on the mechanics of playing the game. I’m playing on Master level for now.

Master is the sweet spot for me too. It’s challenging enough to give the world a bit of resistance without becoming a masterclass in boredom or frustration!

And yet, the poll that's going currently has the majority sticking with Adventurer. I said it all along, that them investing the time into this wouldn't pay off, because the majority of players would continue to play on the easiest level- and that only a small fraction would actually increase their difficulty. So was it worth the money/time invested in creating this feature? Apparently Microsoft didn't seem to think so. Sadly, corporations want to see major dividends from their investment, and apparently they didn't see that when comparing the ZOS budget to the incoming revenues.

As of the time I'm replying, 33% stick with adventurer in that poll. That is by no means a majority.

As for the rest of your post, hot diggetedy darn, it fries my brain how much a certain portion of this community want challenge difficulty to be viewed as a failure.

We got a customizable, optional feature without monetization that players had requested for years. Seems like a win.

I'm not too interested in the system making little fights take longer, unless they make certain overland challenges or rewards, but I'm glad people are enjoying it.

It's a debuff on your character. I'd be surprised if it took more than a 8 man hours to implement. Also it seems around 70% use the feature, a solid 60% just for fun (removing achievement reasons) according to an ongoing poll.

I'm one of those who has been and continues to be happy with the default difficulty. That said, I respect that plenty of others would like the ability to tune up their difficulty as they like, and am pleased that those who bump up the difficulty seem generally pleased with how it was done. The key was being completely optional so, as far as I'm concerned, it sounds like a win-win to me. :)

I switch, depending on what I'm doing, and what character I'm on.

I think it was a good addition to the game.
