Codex Caper Escape?

Warning: spoilers for the new Thieve's Guild storyline.
Am I missing something? Is this quest supposed to fail, and you're supposed to run out of time and get caught? Is it not possible to complete this quest without bloodshed?
I tried backtracking to see if I could get out the way I came in, but it doesn't let you. You're forced into the room with Enforcer Urfan. The problem, is that my thief is level 8 and cannot defeat her. I have no way of moving forward, unless I'm somehow able to get out without bloodshed.
Anyone know?

    10. Leave through the side room and witness the Koldane Cartel.
(Timed) Escape the estate by reaching the Gallery before the cartel finds you.
(Optional) Steal extra treasures from the hallways.
    11. (Failure): If you fail to escape in time:
Wait to be freed and leave the side room.
    12. Enter the Gallery and defeat Enforcer Urfan.

Do you have other characters with CP? Can you assign CPs and craft some tankier gear for this lvl 8?

Yeah, "ouch!" comes pretty close. I haven't tried it with a Level 8 character, but did do it with a Level 15-ish character on PC EU (an Arcanist) with no CP available.

    1. Lay down a DoT. I use Wall of Elements and specifically went looking for a level-appropriate lightning staff to do it with, but the strategy is to keep her within that AoE as much as possible.
    2. At Level 8, your Arcanist spammable is probably Runeblades; better if you can use the flail (Abyssal Impact until you can morph it), but use what you've got.
    3. Beam her and her doggies (bonus point for managing to keep all three in the beam). The doggies will respawn in time, but they are a pain and get dealt with the fastest.
    4. Heavy attacks, dodging, and Runemend between beams. Because your skills are chewing Magicka at this point, the Heavy Attacks are more for resource sustain than damage.
    5. Unblinking Eye when you've got your Ulti minimally charged. There is no advantage to having 500 Ulti instead of the 175 needed to fire. Problem with this is that Level 8 usually doesn't have an Ulti.
    6. Crown Tri-pots quickslotted for the times when Runemend isn't enough, but the whole idea is "Urfan dies before you do."

Urfan is a tough fight for a low-level, even on Adventurer difficulty. If you don't mind abandoning and retrying when you've got a few levels and an Ulti, then that might be the more workable solution.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I'm a sorcerer on the character I'm trying to take through, but I appreciate the breakdown.
I was able to do the whole Abah's Landing Thieves Guild questline without killing. I started a new level 3 just to rp a thief. Doing the Hew's Bane storyline, I got from 3 to 8.

I was hoping for a non-combat way of completing these quests, as this is a thief rp playthrough where he doesn't kill. In fact, I wanted a challenge, so he's not going to have any detection radius reductions, and only using invisibility potions - which at level 8 is only three seconds - and another reason I wanted to complete this first quest in particular, to get the Prowler's Talisman. I had no problem sneaking around the mansion, until the last part with the timer, where it almost feels like you're supposed to get caught. But then that makes it so you have to fight Enforcer Urfan. I abandoned and re-tried the quest multiple times trying to avoid the cut-your-way-out ending to the quest.

I wonder if anyone has beaten the timer and managed to escape, as all the walkthroughs for this quest show the 'failure' playthrough.

    EDIT:
I made it through the door before the timer - it still makes you fight Enforcer Urfan
