Weekly Challenges???

Cannot believe, that they have now increased the amount of most of the weekly challenges, double in some cases! Only been playing for 6 years and very disappointed with the recent game changes. I don't want a grind/time consuming game. There was always some, but now getting ridiculous. Being retired, I can play when I like. I feel really sorry for people that are working and don't have the time to spend on things like this. It was fine as it was, most of it doable, as you run around doing other things.

    Agree

Increasing the amounts on some of them, like kill x boss, made sense to go from 3 to 6 but doubling everything including resources collection is ridiculous. I would collect these as the week went on and I got my survey maps. I have 14 toons doing writs and the mind boggles at the thought of collecting enough maps for it now.

TBH it feels very knee jerky to just double everything.

They havent increased the number ot bosses or items you have to gather to complete a challenge. That is the same. They just doubled the number of times you can complete them.

And you dont have to do them all tbh. You get plenty of tome points, enough to buy everything by just doing what you want. It isnt a chore unless you make it one...

Those challenges are just freedom to do them, not an obligation.
It is what you can do, not what you have to do. Why is it bad?

The only thing I would add is an option to remove the challenge I don't want anymore.

That's one big problem with doubling the requirements to clear them completely. If you start one and realise you don't want to do it either you push yourself to finish it just to get rid of it or you're stuck with 1 less option forever, and now it's twice as annoying to clear them.

Hopefully they'll allow us to delete them at some point, but as far as I know ZOS haven't even acknowledged that it's something players want.

Per the patch notes the doubling only kicks in once you've unlocked the bonus pages in a given tome.

It is designed as a catch up mechanism for when, not if, players start stacking tomes.

If you are that far in tome progression on the free track then you likely have enough tomes that there isnt really a point to continue.

If you are that far on the premium progression then it allows you enough to get everything you want from it.

If already have enough tome points for what you want, and you are over 2k tome points, then the best thing is to just ignore the weekly challenges.

The gold you will get from excess tome points is 10 gold per tome point... a rate you can beat just buy engaging in the new difficulty settings and go mob farming

That change only applies if you have unlocked the Bonus Pages and it only applies to new challenges (ones which were already showing in the Weekly and had any progress are unaffected). Frankly, the amount of grind to complete one of those doubled challenges in order to get one-tenth of the point value in gold is a pretty big ask. Example: 360 points (36 gold at the end of the season) for doing six Incursions versus 720 (72 gold at the end of the season) for doing 12? I can pickpocket stuff worth more than that in the time it takes to do one incursion.

If you are a Premium Tome purchaser, have reached the bonus pages, and want/need to get stuff bought before the autobuy kicks in at the end of the season, then yes, I can see the attraction. If you are a free-tier player, then unlocking the bonus pages left you with about 5K more points than there is stuff to buy on the free tier, so you're doing it strictly for the gold if you're going to do it, but 2K points will roll over to the next season.

I have a mental bet running with myself. I have bought all the collectibles on both tiers (except one) and have about 2K points still to spend. I'll bump that up a bit because I'm betting that the autobuy is going to give me the skill style for the Werewolf ability in spite of the fact that I have no characters (out of about 15) who have even unlocked that skill line at any point in the past five years and zero plans to unlock it at any point in the future. So I'm going to make sure that I have 2500 Tome Points going into the next Tome and then leave it alone.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

I thought it was 10 gold per tome point. So 360 points is 3600 gold.

It is indeed 10:1, which is a paltry amount honestly. I'm on the Free Tome and after the 2k we can carry over between Seasons, I'll have I think around 5-6k Points left. That'll be about 50-60k. If it were more like 25 or 30 per 1, I'd be inclined to keep doing Challenges, but as it is the small amount you get isn't worth the effort for me.

Hopefully some point in the near future they'll add the ability to either buy Consumables/Currencies on all the normal Pages repeatedly, or make those things on the Bonus Pages able to be bought repeatedly. Either or would work, and it would give people more choices in whether they want more Gold at the end of a Season or if other things like Seals or Potions are of better value for them.

The only thing I would add is an option to remove the challenge I don't want anymore.

I would say it is bad because of the one thing you asked for. We can't get rid of them. And they aren't equal.

If the pool of challenges was deeper and more varied I might have a different opinion. But the same specific WBs over and over and resources has gotten boring. Difficult foes - we do that normally. Daedra - easy to do by accident. Almost everything else requires going to a specific place or doing something specific. I gather resources every day but not 75 of the same one.

Another thread mentioned the gold cost with the update. What we get is random. What we get on the re-roll is random. And it can give you back what you rerolled from. So that indicates some times you may have an easy week, another you get stuff you don't want to do and the rerolls just give it back to you.

The game should be fun. Some want challenges and hard mode challenges. Nothing fun or challenging about dropping the axe on Commander Panthius for the 100th time then you need 5 more times to get a new challenge next week.

    @ZOS_Kevin @ZOS_Kira

Please, could we have some attention to this?
We asked for the option to remove the tome challenges by players' will lately.
Now it looks like with the last update it becomes a real pain point.
