Streaming Content

Curious what people think..

I’m old now and have too many spawn to really play for hours on end, but I very often watch streams when I’m feeding a baby or on my lunch break.

I mostly watch PvP streamers, as that’s all I’m really into in ESO. What I’ve come to realize, is I don’t really enjoy watching “1vXing” anymore. Yes, it’s fun to actually do, but as a spectator, there’s no real shared sense of accomplishment or struggle. I guess it’d be fun to watch someone X’ing on some weirdo build that I’ve never seen before but that’s really not happening.

Assuming you can’t break away to actually play, what do y'all enjoy watching?

I think my favorites are Emp pushes, theorycrafting, and ball group gameplay.

There’s my random positive post for the week. Maybe it could be some food for thought for a streamer who reads it who knows.

Most of the time the 1vX is usually fake and scripted or assisted. I have actually found streamers in game that rely on their friends in other factions to attack the ones they are attacking with bow snipes to help them win. They aren't entertaining because they are fake. I've been a victim to numerous. Worse is when they have their whole guild to 1vX but the guildmates are destined to die over and over again for content.

If it was real it would be very unorganized and chaotic.
I am dark strife. Khajiit since arena... ya know when they were humans... with face paint... still khajiit only all games...

A friend of mine has some screenshots of a streamer. The streamer was showing off his "unkillable" build. The screenshots are of the reaction on the streamer's face as my friend took him apart and killed him.

If I'm setting out to watch a live stream it is almost a certainty to be for something with a very specific objective, goal, or endpoint in mind. ie.. content reveals, developer discussions, tournament final/championship rounds, etc .

If it's generic gameplay I'll most likely wait for the highly edited Headliner/Highlights reels.

Basically the same way I watch golf if I'm not playing myself.

I would never watch a streamer when I could be playing games. I really don't understand the allure. Then again, I don't watch TV either.

I'm the same. Zero interest in watching others play. I'd rather play myself.

It’s strange with ESO most of the people who stream… are super duper casual and I have no interest in watching someone questing in Stonefalls or the other end of the spectrum is PvP which I do watch myself personally as usually it’s people who know the game and how to play it. There seems to be no middle ground, like someone grinding codex entries on stream or running trifectas on stream I know NefasQS used to do that sort of thing but it’s very few and far between which sucks :(

I think most people agree they’d rather play than watch, but just like I said in the post some of us can’t play at times, and watching streams can be a decent alternative.

Watching streams isn't an alternative for me because there is nothing I enjoy about it. I particularly hate theorycrafting and avoid it myself so I certainly don't want to watch others do it. And the few times I tried to watch a boss fight for help were useless because all I could see were bright flashes of lights all over and players running amok.

Well, I can't always play at times either. I'd imagine that's true of most people. When I can't play a game myself for whatever reason, I'd never choose to watch someone else play a game. I just don't enjoy doing that. I'd do something else I enjoy, instead.

Lol, that’s sounds awesome. I guess I’m in the minority. Lunch breaks and feeding/holding babies or watching toddler shows be damned. I’ll try asking them to play golf or go drinking next time.

I was responding to your comment, "some of us can’t play at times, and watching streams can be a decent alternative." So I was referring to when we're able to watch a screen but not play a game (if you can't watch a screen when you're doing something, then you can't watch someone game, either, so those situations don't apply).

All I was saying is that for me, when I'm in that situation (can't game but can watch a device), I wouldn't choose to watch someone else play a game. I'd watch something else instead. For me, watching streams is never a decent alternative to actually playing a game myself, but that's me. Everyone's different.
