Based on
the mapping work of
@raystormusa and my own exploration, I've created some importable map pins for the addon
Harven's Custom Map Pins (Markers).
What I've mapped:
- More convenient/followable-when-flailing nav icons in the Plaza for the three doors and the three factions.
- Argent and Brazen spawn points.
- Daily quest start points in the three zones (filterable by quest).
- Daily quest targets in the three zones (filterable by quest).
- Sand walls.
- Puzzle locations.
- Race locations and waypoints.
- Grapple points.
- Faction starter quest locations.
- Werewolf transformation potion spawn points (very few mapped: they only appear when Argent Exarch Molonach is up)
- Hidden loot spawn points (for three golden pursuit goals: webbed items in Skittering Precinct, glowing lights in Sorrow's Friend, tornadoes in the Parch).
What it looks like (colors on your screen will be wildly different, I messed something up with Windows' HDR settings and now I'm unsure how to turn it off):
Sorrow's Friend
Skittering Precinct
The Parch
Starlit Plaza
Map Filters
By default, this is rainbow vomit. The idea is that you only show the pins you care about.
Of course, you can click on any icon and select the option to delete it permanently, if it annoys you (the ones in the Plaza, maybe!) but you can also disable any of the icon groups temporarily.
This is SUPER useful as a checklist of which ones you've done today: when I pick up a quest, I turn off its spawn points. When I hand it in, I turn off its target points.
These map pins help me solo all the daily quests, except the ones requiring boss kills, and the one that drops from random mobs.

How to import:- Install Harven's Custom Map Pins (Markers).
- Install my addon.
- Reload ui, or log in. This addon will import all the pins.
- Disable my addon again, and reloadui again. This will stop my addon from repeatedly saying "Why are you running me again, when I already imported everything?"
Questions:- Can these pins appear as 3D in the world?
Yes, Votan wrote another addon to add this feature. I haven't tested with this, and if I do, I'll likely want to update this addon to be a whole lot better and to let me update pins when I change them to add height values, and... whimper.
- Is this risky?
I don't believe so, but the usual cautions apply: addons can be malicious, so you'd have to trust me I guess. It's one .lua file, and think the format of the file is relatively readable, if you want to check the source. The addon this one depends on was written by Harven, and maintained by Votan, both longtime devs with very good reputations, so personally I'm entirely unconcerned there. ZOS has also gone to some effort to make it so that ESO addons can't do anything overly malicious anyway.
- Why are the icons unintuitive shapes and/or silly sizes?
I did not create custom icons for this, so used the defaults made available with the addon. The addon does not give the ability to scale/resize the icons.
- Why are the colors awful?
My screen colors are completely pooched and I don't know how to unpooch them. I turned on "auto-HDR in windows, and now, even after turning them off again, it's still wrong. Even with working screen colors, I'm no great color theorist. In retrospect, coloring the numbers for the quests in some kind of an intuitive sequence (ROYGB, RYGCB, Grey/Green/Blue/Purple/Gold) might've been sensible, but that'd mean redoing 30 icon styles.
- Why are there points missing?
Especially with the werewolf potion spawns, I just haven't had much chance to find things. Please comment with ones you know about, and I'll add them.
- Why aren't you updating this regularly?
ADHD/procrastination. Plus, it's kinda a 1-off importer, I'm not sure how updates would work. Well, I can see a few ways... but they all feel like work. So, sorry, but I make no promises that I'll update. If you comment here, either I will, or maybe someone with fewer squirrels in their brain will pick it up and maintain it, or even turn it into some kinda cool addon that automatically hides completed quests and adds all the pins I missed and...
- Can I do anything I like with this?
Absolutely anything, please do. Make and distribute your own version, etc. This is just data, there's a lot of work but no creative work gone into compiling it.
- The pins are gross, how can I remove them?
- You can use the map filters.
- If you only installed HarvensCustomMapPins for these pins, and haven't created any pins in it that you want to keep, then just uninstall that addon. The pins will disappear.
- But there's (currently) no easy way to unimport the pins from HarvensCustomMapPins. if there's a whole lot of desire for it, though, I can make that a command in this addon to do that cleanup.
- I'd like an improvement...
Yeah, this kinda sucks. I doubt there'll be much interest, but if there is, then I might add some features:
- Whatever people are asking for.
- Maybe a textarea so people can paste in their own pins to import.
- A "remove all imported pins" uninstall feature.
