LittleLionLeone✭✭✭✭There is no such thing as balance, there will always be a meta pick that dominates. Last year it was subclass warden/nightblade/sorc or templar. This year so far it's pure dk, but as Firstmep said we are already moving to a status meta with the new mythic.

Luneca✭✭We are moving into a status meta already. Even DKs aren't safe.
We've always been in one, it's just that players didn't know any better. Ask the player on live that get DoTs put on them from me. I watch them run away and see their deaths on the kill feed with AP.
The only difference is that you won't be glass built to do it due to the mythic. Right now, you have to have trade-offs: specific class lines, specific sets, etc. -- but the mythic will make those trade-offs vanish.
And that in my definition is the very definition of a problematic set/item: when three build decisions can be replaced with a set item it's a problem. It's even more problematic when that isn't even a 5 piece that is bringing that kind of power.
But who am soul-shriven I to say anything about balance in the game? We know that that mythic will come out, PvP will get worse, and more people will just refuse to play.
And that's all for the illusion that players need to be in an endless, RNG grind to give the game engagement.
I don't understand why ZOS has taken this direction since the introduction of mythics, when it would be better to bring engagement with community incentives, but maybe it's me.
A game can only thrive if it's community is healthy. Yet we're in a game where the most powerful gear is locked behind content you're doing alone for the most part in many cases or grinding for ages and avoiding the community.
How does that even make sense?
And really, I still think mythics should not be in PvP precisely because they are the product of a meaningless grind that not everyone can afford to do with their time. As long as they are allowed, it means that PvP is not a skill-based environment no matter how anyone tries to slice or justify it.
Then beyond that, you have to PAY to have the privilege of even being able to obtain these mythics. So you know that strengthens the argument that it's P2W no matter how anyone tries to argue we shouldn't go there.

I might be misremembering this but I feel like the DoT patch from Scalebreaker was one of the most universally hated patches in the game. We were all calling that patch "Gamebreaker".2 -

I mean, I generally dislike watching a solo player run up to a flag/keep/whatever, zero concern for death (because they know they won't die), hop around like a rabbit 1,000 times taking 12+ player's alpha strike rotations to the face. All while ROFL PWN TEE HEE SKIBBIDY RIP destroying each and every opposing player one by one and running off to the forest with ultra mega super speed, infinite sustain, constant self heals, amazing burst damage rotations, etc etc.
Yeah its totally just my own personal issue with wanting to chase a solo player for 16km across the map.
This game is extremely fun, when it actually works. Which seems to be threads of time in between new patches that completely and utterly break the balance of the game. Actually, its usually right when a new patch drops, because the lifers haven't ran through full time job levels of time worth of spreadsheet analyses to release the next broken build to the community to Ctrl+C Ctrl+V cheese through PVP.
I am merely a humble taxpayer who has financially supported this game far more than I probably ever should have while waiting for a real MMO to release which will never happen in my lifetime....Oh look, gotta go to work in a few hours to support the welfare state we live in!

I mean, that’s just high-level PVP. You could do the same thing if you have a basic understanding of builds and gear interactions. I’ve seen these players shrug off the efforts of a dozen people, just to get slapped down by one or two players who knew how to match them. No one is invincible. You’ve just got to know how to fight them. S1
