How do gold motifs work?

I'm specifically interested in the Tome Edition of the Psijic motif, but it also goes for other gold motifs.

If I claim the gold Psijic motif on a character, will I be able to bank it?

And more to the point, if I use it on a character who already knows several of the individual purple pages from the motif, will I get purple pages that I can trade to other characters, or am I just wasting (losing) those pages? Because if that's the case, I'd obviously want to use the gold motif on a character who knows the fewest purple pages so I get the greatest benefit from the gold motif.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should claim the gold motif on a specific character and use it on that character, or whether it's safe to have my main claim it and then bank it for one of my alts to use.

it would probably be better to claim the motif on a character that does not know it yet,
it is simply the Psijic motif.

Gold/Legendary quality motif books teach you the entire motif, just like Purple/Epic books such as Ancient Elf and Daedric.

it is one book you interact with and you do not get individual pages from it.

Whether your character already knows zero, or 13 chapters of the book, the full book will simply fill in the rest. So if your character already knows the majority of chapters, the decsion whether to use it on that character depends solely on how much weight you place on the time, effort, or cost, required to fill out the rest of the chapters instead. You can bank it and save it for another character if you wish.

I had about half the Psijic motifs learnt on my main crafter, but I'm still low in the number of 14/14 ones to get a higher chance of master crafting writs. So I took a bit of a loss on it and learned it on my main. Still *way* cheaper than buying the missing pages from Guild stores!

Historically they're account bound whenever they're acquired from any method other than looting from the environment. But just to be sure, I just now claimed it and deposited in the bank.

Rewards are account-bound, so you can bank it, but you can't trade it. You will not get back any individual chapters already learned. Gold tomes are best used on characters who do not know any chapters or maybe only one or two rather than filling in the last couple of learned chapters. Even if you got it as a loot drop from somewhere and weren't planning on having any other character learn it, you should probably sell, use the proceeds to buy the last couple of purple chapters, and pocket the difference.

IIt probably works as the full motif styles from crown crates: bound to account.
