Outfit Question

I think I may have found the appearance I was looking for. It was one of the base game default racial styles (?) What I think was giving me trouble was the color scheme. As you know most of the easy to obtain colors are bland and dark with a washed out look to them. So viewing them at an Outfit station which is usually indoors with crappy lighting they look different than when viewed Overland in bright daylight. And needing to run the LOADING SCREEN gauntlet over and over again to see what the colors look like in daylight is time consuming and tedious. Something I HATE doing.

Anywho, after running the GAUNTLET several times and messing around with the base game racial styles and colors I think I may have found as close as I can the appearance that I was after. It looks very similar to what I remember but something is missing. I do not know what.

So, for now I consider the issue solved. Thank you for all the responses. Some of the tips helped.

I have been trying to figure this out on my own for over a week now with no success and thought it is time to ask the community.

Is there a way to make one piece of crafted armor LOOK like another piece of crafted armor without affecting the actual armor's set bonuses? For example, making Order's Wrath look like Divine Prosecution or vice versa? (I don't know if Divine Prosecution is crafted or not. I just pulled the name out of my ***.)

I have gone through every armor style I have in my collections and cannot find the style (appearance) that I want. The ONLY way I have been able to have the style (appearance) that I want is to wear the actual piece of crafted gear which would mean breaking the 5-Piece set bonuses. I don't want to do that.

Am I just not looking in the correct place?

Please help. Thank you.

I think I explained my issue poorly. Let me try again.

Specifically, I want to change the appearance of my current light armor chest piece - Order's Wrath - look like the light armor chest piece Julianos. I have gone through every chest style in my Outfit inventory and do not see Julianos anywhere. I obviously have it as I have crafted the Hulianos light armor chest at least six times and equipped it multiple times on all of my toons.

Without the Julianos style anywhere to be found in my Outfit inventory how can I change the appearance of my Order's Wrath light armor chest piece to look like the Julianos light armor chest piece?

The two responses below do not solve this issue. Any suggestions?

That's the Outfit System. You can apply any armor style over any gear you want. In your example, Divine Prosecution is not craftable, but it is a style, so you make the ORder's Wrath in any style, and then go to the Outfit Station, put on Outfit 1, and set the pieces to Divine Prosecution style.

There are 135 full motifs in the game, not counting all of the Signature ones. You can apply any of those outfit styles to your outfit.

If there is a set that you like the look of, you can post it here and someone can tell you what motif it uses, and then you can apply that one.

Note that there are a few armor pieces (mainly old ones) that do not have an unlockable style, but that's not common.

You will need to find an outfit station which can be found in most major cities. There you can change the appearance of your armor to any motif you have collected. When you are using the outfit station, make sure you have Outfit 1 selected on the top left to be able to create and edit your appearance (you can add more outfit slots through the crown store). If you have No Outfit selected (which im pretty sure is default) you will not be able to edit anything.

Motifs are not the same as sets collected in your stamp book from drops. You can see what motif pages you have collected by going to your collections and clicking the Outfit Styles section at the top.

You can earn motif pages a variety of different ways. Looking at locked ones and hovering over them can tell you how to acquire that particular style. You can also buy them from guild traders with gold.

If you are trying to figure out what motif a set uses to copy it, hover over the set piece, at the top left it will say what piece it is (chest for ect) what weight (light for ect) and then what MOTIF it is (so argonian for ect). The last one is the motif style that set is.

Julianos is a crafted set and can be made to look like any motif you know, it has no predetermined appearance, which means we either need a picture of this specific Julianos chest piece to know what motif was used for it, or for you to look in the corner of the item, as seen here. These breeches are in the Wood Elf motif:

Try to check uesp or something else for pictures of motifs. Maybe you'll find something you missed in outfit menu (looking in another way often help!).

Or maybe you have screenshot of that armor? On your character, other player or npc?

You should be able to preview motifs you don't know in your collections.

That's most unlikely. I never heard of a removed outfit style.
You are probably using the outfit system wrongly. With it, you are able to create every look the game has to offer (that isn't a costume). That is its very purpose!

Don't give up! You can also showcase every armour style that can be used for crafted sets. You just need to untick the little box in the Outfit Station's UI, that is labelled "available motifs" (or some some such, I am not able to check in game at the moment, I am on holiday) and then go through the greyed out area below the coloured styles. These greyed out styles are the ones your character hasn't learned yet.

I use the outfit station so often, that I have build myself my own one inside my main player house. But one issue that I experience with new characters is that I have to activate my "outfit 1" slot in the character window of the general UI. This is located right under the drop-down menu for titles and guid display. Maybe that's it?

The " Look " of the armor should be based first on the Racial Style you selected. Have you gone through all the Race types when you looked at the Juliano's ?

You can also go through the process of previewing every chest style yourself in the style collection. It's U key by default and the 4th tab there. As seen here:

If you made the chest piece, it should be one of the styles you know, but if it was made by someone else, then make sure the square to show locked style is clicked in, circled in red, so you can see all styles.
Then just preview things by pressing E until you find it.

You can also look at styles at a dye/outfit station by equiping them, then you can also check with dyes.

Which is where you need to go when you do want to change the look of your gear. They can be found in most cities in game, or be bought and placed in one's house.
Gear no matter if crafted or looted, can look kinda silly, so that's where outfits come in. Maybe you want your light armour wearing character to wear something that looks heavily armoured, or maybe you want your heavy armour tank in a pretty robe. Outfits can do it for you.

Here you see a character at an outfit station, no outfit is on here as can be seen in the circled spot, so just not so nice looking crafted gear.

But if we click that no outfit and change it to Outfit 1, we can work on an outfit.
You can pick to only change the appearance of one or few things and keep the rest as they are.

Or as most do, change all of the looks and dye them all nicely cordinated.

For the color problem, I’m fairly certain whatever color it was matches the level you crafted it in. If you sort the dyes by color, scroll down to the second line from the bottom. Most of what’s in there are the dyes that match default colors of crafted/acquired gear, ordered from level 1 to level 160, then extra dyes like gold and silver.

There are a lot of outfit stations outdoors, no reason to go through some loading screen gauntlet at all, and you can preview style from collections standing anywhere, when doing that the previewed style uses whatever dyes your current chest is dyed or default if it's not dyed.

For future outfitting, I can recommend getting a house with an outdoor area, and a time control so you can always have daylight or whatever.

Otherwise, here are some outdoor outfit stations, which varies in what direction they stand, so they are useful for different times of the day:

Mainly mornings and early on the day:
West Weald - Skingrad
Blackwood- Leyawiin (In an open shed which the sun shines into during the morning. Also got a lamp.
Bangkorai- Evermore

General best ones which are good for most of the day:
Reapers March - Rawl'kha
Stros M'kai - Port Hunding
Stonefalls- Ebonheart

Around middle of the day to evenings:
Northen Elsweyr- Rimmen
Gold Coast - Anvil & Kvatch (Anvil better during the day, and Kvatch only later)

Mainly towards evening:
Stormhaven - Wayrest
Craglorn - Belkarth

Outdoors and maybe later on in the days, but I haven't checked if any buildings block the light:
Rivenspire - Shornhelm
Betnikh - Stonetooth Fortress

Special mention: Night
Summerset - Alinor One of the best lit outfit stations for nightly outfitting.
