Daedra don't seem to be daedra

Filed a bug report in game on this, but Solstice Siege Camps do not work well with "The Missing Prophecy" prologue where you need to collect 20 Daedra essences ("kill Daedra anywhere" per the quest hint). Atronachs (Flame and Flesh) seem to work OK, Ogrim seem to work (not sure about the Ogrim Battlemaster), but the Dremora and such don't. Perhaps this is because they aren't technically flagged as being daedra or perhaps it's something else, but dremora, xyvkin, and the like are daedra except as far as this prologue quest is concerned.
I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

There are 3 types of Daedra (4 if you include the Princes): Atronachs, Lesser and Humanoid. It would seem that Humanoid types don't drop the essences, but obviously the text of the quest doesn't mention a specific type.

So either the text is wrong, or humanoid daedra are missing the flag for this quest.

That's possible, but I think I got an essence from a dremora which was labeled "Dremora <something-or-other>" in another zone. I'd just figured that I'll kill two tasks with one fight in Solstice and noticed that my essence count wasn't increasing with those dremora, so I had to finish up the first part of the prologue elsewhere.

Generally, I only recollect seeing essences drop from atronachs or other daiedra that have visible elemental effects. I don't recall ever getting one from a humanoid with "daedra" in the name. Is it possible that with the end of the WW event some things have reverted to base game behaviour despite what Solstice-related quests might still be available? Could be an oversight.

Honestly not sure. This is not the "Elemental Essence" that elemental Daedra drop, though. The prologue's task is basically "go forth and kill 20 daedra" to power up the crystal that lets you open portals to free the oracles. Since this is the Morrowind prologue, the quest would have been specifically aimed at daedra in the base-game and Year One zones (probably Morrowind and Clockwork City, too, since those were in development at the time).

Oh, I happen to have that quest currently queued up on one of my alts! I'll have to keep an eye on what drops what.

Edit: In Coldharbour, they're dropping from Dremora Churls and Kyngolds. In The Rfit, quite a few from Harvesters and Atronachs. Seems to be pretty random - maybe 1 in 5 to 1 in 10 that any given daedric target will give the essence?

Edit 2: Ended up getting all 20 before running through all the types - finished off with Clamfears, Banekin, and more Dremora (not in Solstice though). So, either there is indeed something odd about Solstice, or your RNG was just really bad on the humanoid ones.
