Can’t save Darien? “ The Golden Knight “ [Spoiler]

SPOILER AHEAD
At Broken Light Temple, when I tried to save Darien, his dialogue wouldn't progress any further. I looked around to see if anything else was happening, but nothing happened. I logged out and back in, but I still don't know. Any advice?

I played “ The Golden Knight “, which is the final story quest of Solstice.

He should slaughter everyone. Then you can talk to him.
If he isn't doing that then abandon and re-take

Yes, he slaughtered everyone around him. The problem is what happened after that. No matter how I try to persuade him, nothing comes of it. I doubted maybe I had to activate something around here, but none of the objects worked.

I just finished this quest. One question. Have you played all the quests that Darien helps you with, starting with Daggerfall Covenant and onward?

I'm stuck at the same point. It just won't advance.

[edit] I've abandoned and retried a few times, logged out and restarted client, etc.. etc...

Only one dialog option (other than goodbye)



Darien has a conniption, and only option ends the dialog.



And circle back up to the 1st screenshot because the quest doesn't advance.

No, I haven’t. When I ran into this issue, I was playing with my character who had completed the Ebonheart Pact, Summerset, and other DLC storylines. But, it hasn’t completed Daggerfall quests that are related to Darien. Maybe that’s the key? If I complete the quests when Darien was mortal one, Cold Harbour, or Daggerfall, perhaps I can finish this Golden Knight quest.

When I got to this point, the game gave me a list of all the battles Darien and I had shared, Each one is a memory he and the player share. Since my character has shared every battle he is in, each memory brought him closer to a conclusion. I'm not sure how many it takes but that was my experience.

It's like a speech test.

As its a direct sequel to the main quest, and given you need to ground Darien, if you don't "know" him you can't do that. An interesting story device to be sure. You could probably just do the Coldharbour story.

I figured out how to proceed.
I needed to complete Cold Harbour storyline.

Today, after rushing to finish it, when I returned to him, the following appeared in his dialogue.

And I could proceed with the quest and finish. I appreciate all your help.
