The third phase was pretty good; everyone charged and attacked together, constantly shooting at the giant boss with siege weapons, which was really cool. However, the first two phases were very boring and lacked rewards. If the first two phases could be compressed into a week and the rewards for the third phase significantly increased, then this event would be a classic.

I think the writhing fortress part of the event itself should be replayable with some nerfs to enemies and buffs to player and siege damage to account for less people doing it overtime as it is part of the story, but I feel it dragged on too long. I did appreciate what they were going for but it was not executed well.

I think ZOS has thoroughly proven they don't have the resources or labor to pour into OTEs and make them worth it.

I have my gripes and complaints about Writhing Wall but I have had a good time with it, overall. Part of those gripes are things which I think were at least partially beyond ZOS control, like the length. If the event needed to be timed as it was (because reasons, but I'll accept it), then it was going to have to be longer than a normal event because of the events surrounding it on the calendar. If you consider the timing of Zeal, Whitestrake's, Undaunted, Witches, and the rotating Q4 event, then it was going to have to overlap something.

I can almost hear the screams arising from using a similar event in May (a commonly empty month for major events) to do something with content which wouldn't release until June and wasn't even formally announced before April (which also removed the usual 5-ish week break between Whitestrake's and Jester's from consideration). Shortening it to a more usual 2-ish weeks would have produced similar complaints about the frequency of events. You can go check back on this forum (and others) to find a litany of "What?!? Another event? Didn't we just finish <event> a few days ago?" and variations on that. So I accept the length as something which was not fully within ZOS' control.

I think the repetitiveness of the dailies is also not fully within their control either. There are only so many variations of "fetch this", "kill this", and "craft this" which can be produced. For other story-related events, it's kill the delve boss, kill the world boss, and/or stop the incursion, with a usual limit of one-per-day of each without workarounds like group quest-sharing, so I was actually pretty happy that crafting dailies were also included in this event (insert "please, sir, may I have more?" meme here). Upping the limit to six dailies of each type per character without quest-sharing was a neat idea. I'll add that the siege camp defense dailies were a blast. They got a bit repetitive (almost all dailies do; no shade), but I really enjoyed the concept (again, "please, sir, may have more?").

The major gripe that I have on the dailies mostly reduces to lackluster rewards. I'm still about a half-dozen shards short of the Caltrops skill style (probably just go buy those - it happens) and a couple of weapons styles short of a full Wormwrithe outfit (probably go buy those, too), but I collected all the available Solstice overland sets just off the dailies (that's 102 different and uncurated gear pieces, btw), almost enough fragments to make four Haj Mota pets, and somewhat more than a couple of Stirk Fellowship motifs; 14 chapters each with zero full-book drops.

Bugs are a separate issue. Ghishzor showing up too early, misbehaving Skordos, the stalled Writhing Fortress instances, etc., are all things which are nominally with ZOS' control. TBF, the feedback from PTS was fairly paltry and there weren't huge numbers of players doing the event phases while they were up (I was busy with other stuff and didn't participate on either the NA or EU phases and so am as guilty as anyone else on that), so glitchiness slipping through is not entirely on ZOS. Couple that with the timing (phases 1 and 2 being tested with U47, phase 3 being tested with U48, and all three having fairly low PTS participation) and I'm generally forgiving. It might have worked a bit better had all three phases been tested in sequence on the same update, but there might have been background issues (console certifications, for example) which prevented that. Those are all decisions and issues which are well above my paygrade.

On the whole, I applaud ZOS for stretching a bit beyond the usual stuff and trying something different. It had more than its fair share of issues and glitches, but stepping outside the box is good and I don't expect a homerun from every at-bat. So, sure, let's try something like this again. There are some mistakes which can be learned from and some successes which can be carried forward. I have my share of disappointments and frustrations, but they aren't huge and I'll still pull my DK out of the busted Writhing Fortress instance and try again later. It's not the end of the world and the whole concept has a lot of potential, so "please, sir, may have have more?"

Please, no more "once in a lifetime events". They better pull a normal update next year, or they can stow their content passes in... well you know what i mean.

When it is working correct, the fortress is pretty neat. It has some weird aspects I wouldn't have chosen but overall it feels good. That said, I don't like the fact it's going to be a 7 day then gone event. It should have had it's own queue category and other stuff maybe added down the road like the dungeon finder.

Interesting that the votes for yes and maybe compared to no is literally 1 to 2 atm, 42 altogether vs 84.

I do wonder how many votes are colored by the rest of the event though, when I just mean specifically would people like another public dungeon like the writhing fortress. That said considering the price tag I do agree its pretty *** that the content is limited, Helldivers definitely uses Fomo tactics for instance but the content is free, and they have tremendous goodwill.

Not sure how else one would do this though without requiring people buy the dlc, so perhaps one time dlc events dont have a place here in eso. Other than that criticism and the bugs I still hold that its the best and most creative thing they've done and would like to see more of it. The writhing fortress specifically.... phase 1 and 2 again was terrible.

No and main reason is the lag i experience with so many people doing same activities in one area.
There are less employees working on content now so things are being rushed through and yet it's taking longer to get access to buggy content. Also zos humour is missing from the zone i noticed.
I was talking to my partner about this yesterday, how eso has changed so much it doesnt feel like the same game anymore.
I wish I could rewind back 2 yrs

I don't necessarily want it to be one time only, but I do want more engaging stuff and greater variety. The game's gotten a bit too formulaic in storytelling and types of gameplay offered. It's a pity that the Writhing Wall is so badly bugged and that it's now made such a bad first impression on the concept as a whole.

Not in the least. Zos has made it very well known that they don't have what it takes to streamline these events. As someone that's white-knighted the game for years, this has been the most disappointing build up I've encountered. I don't foresee them remedying this anytime soon. What a joke of an event and new business model.

I'll give credit where credit's due. I didn't participate in this event, nor will do so with its remaining time even after seeing the writhing fortress due to the active bugs, but the concept of it was interesting to say the least. I watched a video on it and it did look like something the game should have more of. I didn't count the max amount of players in the instance. I would guess 36? But a pseudo trial with that many people that takes 40 or so minutes to clear is what the game needs more of when it comes to events. There just has to be major changes to how it's implemented.

For starters, don't lock it behind a month's worth of incessant grinding. Daily grinding is one of the most boring things to implement for an event, and something like phase 3 should be available day 1 of the event, or at most a week into an event.

Secondly, it shouldn't be a one time only event. An event like phase 3 should be a yearly thing for multiple reasons, mainly FOMO and not removing the value of the content if it happened to be locked behind the current "chapter".

And lastly, I would say it has to either scale to players or last no more than a week. Even if something like this looked fun, it's not going to be fun if it's available for 14-20 days. There are dungeons/trials that are very fun, but after doing them more than 10 or so times, they become a chore. I get that's a player issue, but something that is short can be savored for longer.

But really, I would like to see some of current events be altered like this. Even though Hallowjack was added last year and was a good addition, a full scale pseudo trial like the writhing fortress would be even better to have. I don't know how one could be implemented into new life, but new life definitely needs something new instead of its unchanged dailies for the past 10 years. And if it's part of anything new going forward, just ditch the competition aspect and follow the pointers I gave.

For me, definitely not. On the contrary, the idea of making the Fortress time-limited sours the whole event even more.

Even when keeping the abysmal stages 1 and 2 out of the equation, even the very idea of timegating the Fortress is bad, worse, worst, the horriblest idea they've ever come up with.

The dungeon is cool and fun (if you happen to get into an instance that's not already half overrun). But that's in line with the other content from this kind of team - dungeons (and other group content) are, in my opinion, consistently either really great or at least good enough to be fun. The Writhing Fortress as a dungeon or a mini-trial would be amazing. Sure, I would like more of that - and we will get more of that once the next dungeon pack comes around.

But throwing the cool stuff away for no reason whatsoever, leaves me speechless. It's just ... terrible, really really stupid, and makes me HATE this travesty of an event even more. The Fortress could've at least somewhat mellowed the otherwise colossally disappointing event experience, in that at least something good came out of it.
But it doesn't. After the week, there will be nothing decent and worthwhile left from this sad excuse for an event. And to think I paid for this frelling nonsense, makes me really angry. The stupid crafting and pelt-collecting dailies were at least not very costly to make (I hope). But the Fortress did require considerable effort and resources - and they're throwing these away, for literally nothing. I do not understand what they were thinking. If they were at all.

Not to mention that Solstice has been exceedingly light on content in general, for a hefty price. If I want to set my car on fire a week after buying it, that's my choice. But ZOS has no right to burn my car that I paid them for after a week.

I hope this feedback gets printed into a really heavy book and delivered to the people responsible for this frelling yotz with the appropriate amount of force.

If we put aside bugs, I very much enjoyed it from start to finish.
I love the concept of the WF but I get why it's a one time event - once zone is done for most players, nobody will be around to do such a massive fight; too many players required. Which is really cool when players are there... Not when they won't anymore.
So, if we forget the many bugs, I wholeheartedly appreciate what devs have done here. Do I want more? Content like this is awesome, but I don't know if it's worth the effort/time/money for Zos to do such things, sadly... Probably there are other things that would retain players more, even if way less cool.

Well I unsub 2 accounts and didn't by the chapter or any crowns on sale. Thats what, 400 usd when you convert it from Pacific peso. So I'd say pulling this crap again would be bad for peoples jobs.

If it's good enough to be worth making it's good enough to keep in the game.

The only benefit to making something a temporary update that will never be seen again is if both players and ZOS would prefer to never deal with it again and forget it ever happened. If it's fun to play there's no good reason not to keep it around so more people can enjoy it, including people who have already played through it who may want to repeat it in future.

It does seem like an awful lot of effort to create this Public Dungeon that's unique in the number of players it can accommodate and they're going to turn it off afterwards. I also wonder how playing through Solstice and its story
line will feel once the wall is down and there is no major payoff half way through the story content there.

It's depressing when content that has been hyped and PR spun for months is almost unplayable.

Hearing from others how much fun it is when it /does/ work is like having salt rubbed in that wound.

I hear other people saying we're complaining too much on the forums and on other sites, but we paid MONEY for this content. If this is a time limited event that I paid good money for, you bet I'll complain when I don't even get to see it working once, never mind multiple times in the timeframe it will be available!
