Hi,
I was in group finder for my random normal an hr ago or so and I heal so I always follow tank or whoever is leading the group so I'm healing as we get to bosses. The group, always set the pace for me.
1. If group has players with low cp I always ask if they are on quest.
2. If all not lowish cp and they run i keep up with the group.
Today we had a group of a couple of lower cp but tank ran ahead with one dps(also low cp so new) so I followed pace. Then other dps also a new player said they were reporting us for not allowing them to do their quest.
This is what I said to this person;" I'm happy to help you do your quest..did you pick it up?"
They just stood in one spot not moving. We killed 1st boss was just normal fungal grotto. I called this person to get over to boss cos I know the quest requires player to put boss' head on the pike. They just stood there saying they were reporting me. Ive been playing this game since launch and never encountered this when actually trying to help a new player. I even said I'd stay back so they could complete quest.
In the end I whispered them and asked them if we could talk about what actually happened but this is what they said: " Busto"

I explained that running in dungeons is not against the game Tos cos eso has speed runs / no deaths achieves. I tried to reason with this person and in the end they put me on ignore which shows they most probably did report me. I feel trolled by this person and if they reported me that is very unfair. I put in a ticket about this incident so I reported them so zos can see i did nothing wrong.

I can say with relative confidence that that won't be the last time you encounter a troll like that. Best action to take? Roll your eyes, take a sip of your favorite beverage, and move on to the next thing that comes to mind. They're not worth the space they take up inside your head.

Seems like a troll to me, I would have given up talking to them after the pike bit, anything more is just feeding the troll at that point.

You probably shouldn't have tried to communicate with them, especially if you put it in terms of "reasoning" about it, as that potentially just makes you look like you think you were guilty of something and needed to explain it. Probably best in future to just ignore someone like that. I mean, were they accusing anyone else in the group of not letting them do the quest? Why pick you out of the group to "blame" because half of the group was running ahead and you were trying to keep up with them? Don't try to encourage them to come to the boss or anything else; let that be on them.

But if you reported them for their behavior in order to explain your side of things to any support reps, then that was probably the best way you could have handled the situation after they presumably reported you. But any logs would presumably show your interactions with them, which is why I think it would have been better to have not even tried to communicate with them.

They were reporting the whole group. I don't feel guilty, I'm HSP and I feel things deeply, I'm always kind to everyone so it shocked me. Now guilt more hurt and confused.
I appreciate your reply thank you

ZOS doesn't do anything about actual griefers, you will be completely fine. Not willing to do a quest in random finders can't reasonably be classified as griefing whatsoever.

You’re honestly too kind for how the world often is. You took time to care about people who didn’t even try to understand that you were helping, that speaks volumes about you. But you can’t carry the weight of other people’s attitudes.

Marcus Aurelius once said, “When you wake up, remind yourself: today I will meet people who are meddling, ungrateful, arrogant, dishonest, jealous, and surly.” He didn’t say it to make us bitter, but to remind us not to lose our peace when others act unfairly.

You did everything right. You acted with kindness and patience, that’s all that matters. Let it go, not because you don’t care, but because you deserve peace. Keep your compassion, but don’t let it exhaust you.

Could be a troll, or could be a language barrier. If they understood the messages wrong or if google translate didn't do a good job, could also be one reason for these responses.

Not necessarily. I have CP2300 on PCEU and CP700 on PCNA. I was doing a RND on PCNA last week and got NC. Healer left immediately and the other DD said in chat "Oh, this dungeon. I understand why that player left. Me too, bye." and left.

We ended up duo'ing the dungeon and I got a trophy at the end. So from the tank's POV there was only one DD with CP700 and from loot log he could see the DD was in that dungeon for the first time.

But yeah, in general CP is an indicator how long have you played this game. Pretty much that and nothing else.

From the experience grieving like that don't go anywhere as it's always boils down to your chat logs and if you're completely "clean" from offensive back and forth you're good. Definitely don't let it affect you as you're clearly in the rights here, probably more so than 99% players who end up in a similar spot. Goodness of heart isn't going to convince some and it's better for everyone to let go and move on early.

Its an On line game has no importance . i am always happy to go at groups pace , i do ask to quest and bosses for skulls atm with a please , and have yet to be disappointed , wouldn't give a rats a... if the group just ran to last boss either , as i know i would get the quest done in the next run or 2 . remember online don't let anyone upset you , just laugh and grab a beer.

Next time someone threatens reporting for nonsense, immediately VOTE KICK (so they can do their reporting in peace >:) ). We don't negotiate with terrorists. We cannot pander to this level of nonsense.

I also feel like nuisance reporters should be banned - 24 hours, 3 days, perma.

Yeah, I have lots of lowbies and have been around since beta.

However, anyone who has been playing this game for longer than a couple of years (when all the WoW players jumped ship re: Kodick et al) knows not to behave like the OP's post. The ESO community (in general) has been so good for so long, that this sort of nonsense stands out, especially to those of us who have been in both communities long-term.

To the OP: take the advice to let it go. Any report will see your chat and that will be fine on your end. Also, remember: never attribute to malice what can be attributed to a lack of understanding. Now that we do have Chinese players on the NA server, language barriers do lead to some misunderstandings that are no one's fault but whatever translator's being used.

Having said that, I know "let it go" is often easier said than done; there are (usually) real people on both ends. The important thing is you were kind, and it's highly unlikely you'll be banned.

Also pretty sure speed running a normal dungeon is not against the TOS so I wouldn’t be too concerned about that. As a tank when someone keeps pulling fights I swap specs to dps an usually end up doing at least 50% of the groups dps :)

getting quests done with pug groups is always a problem because speed farmers and excessive rp. they need to make the quests always give credit with the death of the last boss and would solve everything

Some people seem to think threatening to involve a higher authority is guarenteed to scare whoever they're threatening and make you immediately do whatever they want, even if that threat is nonsense.

When I worked in retail we'd get at least one person a week threatening to report us to our company's head office, to Trading Standards, even to the police over something or other. None of those threats ever went anywhere, even when it should have (they were a terrible company and deserved some complaints). I doubt many of them even got as far as making a complaint. I do know we never heard anything back about any of them. (Oh, except the guy who demanded our phone to call HQ to make a complaint, then tried (and failed) to smash the phone on the floor. We got told the shopping centre had banned him because it wasn't the first time he'd done something like that.)

In this case the guy was probably hoping threatening to report you would make all 3 of you immediately stop, put him in charge of the group and follow along doing only what he wanted, when he wanted and got annoyed when that didn't happen.

There was nothing you could reasonably do to help in that situation, especially not explaining why he wasn't going to get his way. It might have been useful for them to know about the group finder and that if they want to do the quest in a dungeon they really need to use a method where they can specify from the start, but I doubt they'd have been in the mood to hear it then.

You definitely don't need to worry about the report because ZOS will not do anything with it, even if they actually sent one.

I'd vote to kick the dude for saying that tbh, reporting someone for not taking time out of their own life to help you is sad. That guy needs to make friends that are also new and also need the quests. People have been running these dungeons especially fungal grotto for 10+ years we want to spend as little time as possible in there. I know I sound mean but it's common sense.
