How do I link my Steam Eso Account to Twitch for promotional drops?

I've managed to link this account, (normal ESO account), to twitch in the account settings, but I'm unable to do this for my families steam accounts. When logging in through steam, there is no username and password and clicking on account requests a user name and password. I tried clicking the steam login and logged in using steam credentials and then it asked me to activate my account. When I did this it took me to an account creation page at which time I was nervous to proceed as I wasn't sure if I was supposed to do this, if it would break the steam login, or what it would do. I also just tried linking the twitch account to steam, but claiming the drop didn't make it available in eso.

Am I supposed to continue with that account creation page? Or do something else. It is really frustrating that this is not made more clear and googling this gave me a lot of half answers.

Are you already able to play the game through Steam?

As far as I know (I purchased ESO and all ESO content through Steam, and launch ESO through Steam) when you launch the game through Steam it is using the Steam user name and password.

So a few years ago when I originally linked my ESO and Twitch accounts for the purpose of being able to earn and claim drops in ESO, I had to log in at the ESO account webpage using my Steam login (there should be an option to log in with Steam), at which point I could link my ESO and Twitch accounts on the ESO side. (I think I'd already linked them on the Twitch side.)

Not sure if any of that's helpful to you, but I hope you get it worked out.
