Maintenance for the week of October 20:
• PC/Mac: No maintenance – October 20

Phase One will be LONG

There in PC-EU we are at 2.3% progression after 24h of event, so what? It will take around 43 days to do the Phase One?
And we still got TWO phase after that T_T

And that's only when we believe we'll continue at the same speed every day, but people will get bored after a moment and do less dailies so we can be pretty sure it will slow down.
Also counting maintenance day like the one we'll get tomorrow which will slow the progression of that day.

Checking the progress of all servers on the site we would be at more than 12% if the servers weren't split for a stupid reason of competition between servers and that would mean we could have done the first phase in less than 10 days which wouldn't be too short nor too long.

The idea is that Phase 3 will not be able to start for any server until the console U48 patch releases, which based on standard cadence should be around 12 November. That also meshes with the idea that Phase 3 will be exactly a week, and the current Golden Pursuit has tasks that require phase 3, and that ends on the 26th.

That suggests to me that phase 3 is probably designed to start around 17-ish November, and that means phases 1 and 2 together need to last all the way until then (so over 4 weeks total). I’m guessing each phase is set to be around a few days over 2 weeks, and the numbers will be finagled to make that so.

Short answer: this long timeframe is totally intended

ZOS said on stream that they balanced it per server to ideally take about a month, so yes.

But as far as I remember they were hyping that event with the argument "you can unlock the update/pass to next phase before the others servers" but somehow it HAD to take a month for sure, a bit contradictory if in the end if they balanced each servers to take the same time for each...

And anyway what in their mind to believe a month is not freaking long when all we have to do is boring dailies which give nothing good in their boxes...

    Marketing.

It’s all a black box for a reason.

Really, are we expecting that any given server would not be able to access the content (that they paid for!) in a reasonable time? Or that a server would be able to access the content before it was actually added to the game?

They’re going to pick one server to “win” bragging rights, and then every server will make it to the end within a day or two so nobody gets discouraged. If it were me, I’d finagle it so a console server (probably PSEU) “wins” so that the console players can get something before PC for once.

The official version is they balanced the requirements so each server has an equal chance even if they have a lower population and they expect it to take around a month but if servers make an effort they could do it slightly faster, and they want us competing to be first.

The reality is they also have a release schedule and cannot afford people saying no one played their "history making" event (although ironically that would probably get them more media attention) so it's going to succeed in around a month on all servers no matter what. There might be room for a few days variation, but that's all and they've already manually changed the progress once.

Also I don't think there's any reward for doing it first, we're just supposed to care about 'server pride' or whatever, because it gives them another way to market the content pass.

they have never given us the actual numbers for any of these community events. and what their progress bar shows never seems to match up with what is -actually- going on in the game. they always fudge the numbers to make sure it lasts long enough and we get the rewards we are "promised." i remember during the skyrim event where we moved the progress bar by digging up antiquities. i had a couple guildmates who were going absolutely BONKERS and spending every waking moment digging up antiquities because they were worried when the event had been running a few days and the bar was not progressing enough. i told them don't stress themselves because no matter what our numbers were, we would magically get the house and other things in the end. and we did. and big surprise, as ppl were doing less digging at the end and getting burned out, it somehow progressed quicker than it had in the beginning.

Can you imagine how incredibly hysterical it would be if one server did just decide to stop doing dailies? Like what would ZOS do if people just stopped grinding and then the bar didn’t progress?

I can’t imagine “well, you don’t get the rest of the content you paid for because your server didn’t grind like mad!” would be a good path forward if they intended to sell anything ever again, but honestly that would be on par with many of the other marketing choices they’ve made this year.

During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

Omg yeah, I’ve heard that Francophone players are getting screwed, and no news on that front. I thought at first that maybe there was a French VA strike or something, but now it sounds like it might be a byproduct of the Microsoft layoffs deleting most international teams and folding all of that into the German team.

Frankly, it’s nothing short of insulting that they haven’t even addressed the French translation, not the least of which is because then Francophone players will not get Writhing Wall callouts in their native language and it’s only out for a week.

I honestly can’t imagine any Francophone player buying a Season Pass in the future after this.

The full amount needed for each is different between servers to account for population differences. They definitely don’t intend XBEU to have to wait until next year to get enough dailies.

Of course, the real answer is that they’ll adjust as needed to get all servers to finish within a few days of each other because you did pay for the content

We tried to get answer on forum, twitter or twitch chat and we got totally ignored.

For the layoffs they already closed the Bethesda France Community Manager Office last year without any words to remplace around 15 peoples with some freelance or bot. Pretty sure there is no more human behind the moderation of the french forum (which is barelly dead).

And yeah I doubt about getting the next year chapter before finding it a very low price in sale or even at all after being totally ignored when we ask when or why there is no french voiceover in time as usual and without any chance to get any compensation.

I was thinking ZOS said they want to 'make gaming history' and if that was their only objective the event failing would actually work better. Can you imagine the media reaction if an MMO set up a big community event where players not only defeat the bad guys from the current storyline but also unlock the second half of an expansion they've already paid for and the players...don't? :D

There in PC-EU we are at 2.3% progression after 24h of event, so what? It will take around 43 days to do the Phase One?
And we still got TWO phase after that T_T
    MATH_COW wrote: »
But as far as I remember they were hyping that event with the argument "you can unlock the update/pass to next phase before the others servers" but somehow it HAD to take a month for sure, a bit contradictory if in the end if they balanced each servers to take the same time for each...

Update, in a hour we passed from 2.3% to 3.6% magically lol

They won't fudge the numbers. They'll just recalibrate the metrics to measure progress.

    Exactly. :D
Xbox EU here and we are on 4.8%. Considering we are the server with I think the lowest population, I have no idea how we are even close to PC-EU.

They said before the event started that each server has their own target numbers, based on their population and activity level. I think that's one reason for only showing a percentage instead of actual numbers. So the server with the lowest population would also have the lowest completions required to clear each phase. They don't want anyone going into the event assuming they have no chance of winning so it's not worth bothering.

We all should just ignore the event, dress up as Worm Cultists and have a party at the main camp instead :p

Holding back content that people have paid for because of this event. Is that what they are doing? I have zero interest in events, PVP, Group content, or dailies in MMOs. I play ESO like a single-player TES game only.

Omg that sounds actually fun. Zerging the camp as a bunch of Worm Cultists. After all, PainInTheAxe totally had a dance party at basecamp last night.

The PC NA progress was at 1.3% on Monday before being rescaled (down to 0.5% or something), so I assume the progress pace will be adjusted if needed to prevent any progress that's wayyy too slow or fast, while still making each quest count towards the total.

They already fudged the numbers on the first day because we were going too fast there was a bug.

If we all collectively decide to strike, there will still be progress. I just hope ZOS doesn't forget to pause the progress during the maintenance (you're welcome for the reminder).
