WHY do devs still make players compete for the same enemies and drops - everyone HATES this - its just wasting everyones time and is 0 fun

Don't forget the low drop rates, so everyone has to kill the same mundane enemies over and over for half an hour instead of getting their drops and leaving the area so others can get theirs.

    It's appallingly bad.

still making players compete for the same mobs after having given this feedback SO MANY times is simply BLATENT disregard for players - I do really hope players tune out as Zos seems simply to never learn otherwise...

this event is already boring me out of my mind and not keeping me engaged at all.

This is such unbelievably lazy uninspired and player unfriendly design - i just cant...

At least in the past, it was world bosses that were zerg'd. So as long as you could get some whacks in, you still had an opporunity to out dps enough others to get loot.

This event has everyone farming mobs that can be one or two hit, so when there are a handful of players working the same area you can't even get credit for tagging them if you aren't fast enough on the trigger.

Not even the camps are working correctly as it seems :( Waiting on one to complete the achievement, it becomes active, soul reaper spawns, people move, soul reapers despawn and camp becomes inactive. Couple minutes later a different camp becomes active.

That combined with atrocious drop rates and cleared spawn everywhere is just too sad. I love all the changes ZOS has been making to the game over the past years or so, but this is just an extremely disappointing event. If not for the bone caltrops style I just wouldn't bother with it at all :/

No kidding. There are literally DOZENS of people trying to farm mobs, and the drop rate of light furs is about 1 in 20 even when you DO get a lootable corpse...

Please tell me you are joking? I'm at work and if this is true it makes me just want to vomit, if I recall there was something like that in Murkmire, if you were not in the top amount of damage you did not get the drop on some world bosses, made me sick. It'll really be the last straw for me, just zero thought about what players enjoy nor concern. Just add grind grind grind.

Just reinforces my feeling that this years content is low effort on their part and much thinner than previous years. Just reinforces my inclination to spend my time playing Legion Remix in WoW vs this event. I don't like either of the mounts in the Golden pursuits and 15k gold is nothing to me. And rewards for Phase I did not motivate me either.

The easiest solution would be to team up with as many people in the area as possible, since corpses from team kills are lootable group wide.

That doesn't make this kind of design okay though. ;)

I'll wait to see if this is the case tonight when I play for a bit. If it is I am just done, I'm cancelling my sub and will never log in again period. I don't mind having to battle for a mob that spawns when there are just a ton of people trying to kill it, what I do mind is an abysmally low drop rate on a mob that a ton of people are going to be focusing on. We've seen this before and it just makes people feel angry and frustrated. It's like whoever is making these decisions are not even considering whether people have fun playing, it's feels like there is a deliberate attempt to drive people away.

I mean really? We have new content coming out, let's have an event that will attract people and get them excited, but let's make it a nasty grind. Those two thoughts go together like a banana and sardine sandwich.

I just can't believe grind grind grind is part of an event, the word event implies F U N...... It's like going to an amusement park on a Saturday, during a holiday festival and only five rides are open with 10,000 people at the park. It's not like the park event designers and promoters are not aware there's going to be a crowd.

I don't disagree with your point, but in this instance it is undercut by there being dozens and dozens of areas to farm. You are also not limited to the designated area.

Furs for the Covenant for example will drop from any furry mob in Covenant territory (base game). Oh, and don't forget grouping entitles you to loot killed by party members.

You can do the entire Golden Pursuit in about 4 hours with the other ones instead. Stack the Souls quest with repeating the Camp attacks and you should be, indeed, Golden.

EDIT I originally stated that you didn't need this rotten quest, as I'm sure the Event page recently listed only 3 Golden Boxes... but it lists 4 now, including this miserable time? Bah.

The only missable, that you probably will need as many blue boxes as possible for, is the 35 Haj parts. So far, with about 30 blue boxes, I've only had 3 parts of that. Sigh. And absolutely no parts for Caltrops. Urgh. It's going to be another Princess Pig Pet, isn't it?

the golden pursuit portion is easily done in a few hours, but the drop rate IS atrocious.

    one might say punitive.

the writhing wall, phase one, is at .5 percent now, five hours in. at this rate, we might hit phase two somewhere in 2026. :/

As a tank, this was always miserable. Especially before the armory. Now at least I can switch between specs. But it always was trash gaming design. Just not fun at all.

It does sometimes feel like ZOS wants to sabotage itself. Hype an event to hopefully bring back tons of players, but then make it a grind by being stingy with drop rates, and making players compete for a tiny number of spawns.

All they ever need to do is reward people for the time they spend playing the game. But for some reason, they consistently refuse to do that, and unfortunately they've done it for what could have been an event that generated a positive buzz. I just don't get it.

It's embarrassing ESO can't get right what GW2 figured out back in 2012. Note, I don't like GW2, but it's an example of how group and area events are a solved design problem in the MMO space. It's not P versus NP.

All my fellow players trying to kill the same mobs in a tiny zone to get a random chance of getting a lootable corpse and a random chance of that corpse having the item you need.

And you need 15 of those items.

The community did not like this before, do we like it this time because it is a 'season' or hyped up 'one-time-event'?

This is probably the absolute worst event in ESO history. It's like they went out of their way to make it the opposite of fun.

Why yes, I love having to kill several hundred mobs to collect 15 vitrified souls because the drop rate is so ridiculously low, especially when everywhere you go that has mobs that can drop them you can't find anything to kill because it's swarming with other players and the geniuses at ZOS never thought of maybe increasing the respawn rate in event quest locations. And the same goes for collecting fat or furs or whatever.

Oh, and of course let's have the quest givers and turn-in on Stirk without bothering to make it so that Stirk actually shows up in the list of locations when you open your map, so the only way you can get there is by finding the wayshrine on the zoomed-out map of all Tamriel, and also without bothering to make the Stirk wayshrine usable from Stirk.

It's not as bad if you own Solstice because you can get to and from the quest givers on Solstice more easily than on Stirk and you can collect vitrified souls pretty easily defending siege camps, but of course the siege camps are bugged anyway.

This event is bad. Just really, really bad.

I tried that - the other small areas in the other zones were also packed and mobs died instantly, just out of my 28m skill range.

Can we please get a reason why, despite years of asking for events where people don't have to compete with other players on top of horrible drop rates, the devs INSIST on doing it this way? It doesn't cause people to engage longer for whatever playtime metrics the bigwigs are looking for, it causes people to just not take part at all and do other things.

Mobs need to respawn immediately and always drop the event item. You want people to play more, make things easier, so they're having more fun rather than being aggravated and giving up.

I'm struggling to decide what the worst part of this event is. Sap collecting is up there. Almost everywhere is packed, and even on the occasion when you find a spriggan or lurcher to kill you can't even loot the body 90% of the time.

This event is so anti-player friendly it's laughable.

Why is anyone shocked? The devs have shown over and over they know nothing about MMORPGs and how they function. This game could and should be the best on the market, but greed, laziness, ignorance, and pride on the part of the developers has stunted it's growth. They've put a fresh coat of pain on the same rehashed content over and over for years without addressing any of the issues of this Massively single player online sometimes squad based arena game.
