New ideas for ESO! 💙

MilesTailsProwers
MilesTailsProwers
Soul Shriven
1️⃣ Execution system. Allow players to do animated finishers on humanoid bosses and enemies when they're low on health. Works for all melee weapons with their own animations.

This could either be new customisable skill line or become default mechanic in combat. It's basically Skyrim's kill move camera or Blade of Woe skill accessible to non stealth gameplay, making combat feel more satisfying.

2️⃣ Talking animations for players when you type something in /Say chat, similar to World of Warcraft. This will encourage fun social interactions and roleplaying.

3️⃣ Werewolf skill line overhaul.

Werewolf form customisation for ears, eyes, tails, fur color, scars, body type, claws, mane.

Some players want to stay in Werewolf form longer periods of time for roleplaying purposes. Have optional toggleable skill called "Persistent Form" that makes it so ultimate timer no longer automatically returns player back to normal form, but instead debuffs player unless they press the ultimate button again to manually return back to normal form.

Emotes for Persistent Werewolves such as /Roar /Howl /Sleep /Sit /Eat. This will make roleplaying as Werewolf more fun. When Persistent Form Werewolves press mount bind, they will run on all fours instead similar to Worgen's from World of Warcraft.

With Execution system implemented, Werewolf players can do brutal finishers on humanoid enemies with low health.

4️⃣ Back armour slot for back gear, such as cloaks, backpacks, wings, etc.

5️⃣ Chat bubbles enabled by default.

6️⃣ New improved default sprint / running animation. New footstep sound effects depending on if Light, Medium or Heavy shoes are worn. Also bare foot sound effects.

7️⃣ Barbershop that lets players change their Hairstyles and Adornments for gold.

I don't think its fair to charge 1000 crowns if someone wants minor changes, the tokens make more sense for full change such as with skin, eye, body type, gender, voice, etc.

8️⃣ Allow players to abandon main quest and any quests that currently cant be abandoned. Forcing quests on newcomers or returning players goes against player freedom.

9️⃣ Update all zones public dungeons and delves with more traps such as spikes, fire, boulders, pendulum axes.

Chest mimics that upon opening swallows and bites players, you can tell chest is mimic by yellow enemy outline.

Roaming ogres that can do grab attack on player to lift them off ground. The grabbed player then has to use break free function more than once to escape, otherwise the ogre begins to bite and devour the grabbed player unless nearby friendly player interrupts the ogre.

1️⃣0️⃣ Fishing minigame overhaul. New fishing rod animation and sounds. Allow fishing to be possible during /sitchair and /sit emotes. Purchasable fishing rod styles.

1️⃣1️⃣ More smaller and simpler quests about basic situations.

Such as angry citizens arguing, public drunken freakout, beggars, non lethal bar fights, love triangles, corrupt guards, abusive orphanage, dealing with racist npc that even reacts to players race, etc.

1️⃣2️⃣ If player dies with a very high bounty they go to sea jail (inspired by Azkaban).

Upon awakening in the scary dungeons, players are stripped of inventory, armour and are dressed in prisoner outfit with enchanted neck collar that prevents usage of magic. The prison gameplay could be more horror stealth focused, since mostly everything else in game already revolves around combat.

Players must escape by hiding in barrels, lock picking, crouching through tunnels, while avoiding unkillable brute (inspired by big daddy from bioshock) with beam of light from its head it uses to search for players (inspired by eye of sauron). If caught by brute it will grab hold of player and carry them back to the cell. The brute has four arms and can carry 4 players at once,

If players manage to escape cell area, there will be guards who will kill players on sight.

If player successfully escapes the prison without using fast travel, they unlock prisoner outfit as costume.

1️⃣3️⃣ Every new year a royal Ballroom opens in Auridon where players are invited into social situation to enjoy cake and do unique partner dancing animations together.
https://youtu.be/kW_8DdgWD00

1️⃣4️⃣ Every Halloween players can queue for PvE survival horror gamemode inspired by Lethal Company or Outlast Trials. I had similar idea for World of Warcraft and made concept video about it! https://youtu.be/dBll_tJDyFE

1️⃣5️⃣ Every Tavern in each zone sells one unique snack or drink fitting to the zones theme, with their own unique models and effects. For example:

1. Black Marsh ale
(Players chug from feather decorated bottle, causing them to occasionally burp green bubbles. If player is argonian and drinks second time, their burps will become more intense. If any other race than argonian drinks second time, it causes the player to vomit and do /sick emote)

2. Mead with juniper berries
(Player toasts before chugging the tankard with chug, after which players movement and idle animations convert to drunk style. Players typed messages will be altered to have a drunken effect. Your "S" often becomes "SH", with "...hic!" being added to the end of your lines on occasion. Example: What you shay might come out like thish ...hic!)

3. Skooma
(Gives random effects. Causes player to sit on ground in fatigued pose with the player character occasionally heard laughing to themselves. Or causes player to do /headache emote at random for while even during movement. Or causes etc etc)

1️⃣6️⃣ Battlegrounds currently has issue where usually one side is more experienced than the other, resulting in unbalanced gameplay.

Introduce medal score matchmaking where teams are balanced according to medal score totality, where all score gained from battlegrounds level up single medal that showcases your battleground experience, meaning players who have high score in battlegrounds are split evenly to Pit Daemons and Fire Drakes.

However for those who wish to play together with friends, if group of friends in same party are queuing for Battlegrounds, they will automatically be sorted into same team, ignoring the medal score matchmaking.

1️⃣7️⃣ New weapon types and fighting styles, such as unarmed Khajiit Claw-Dance martial arts, spears, flails, etc.

1️⃣8️⃣ Customised actions for weapons.

For example new two handed weapon holding animation (such as resting the weapon on your shoulder like from Elden Ring), or new dual wielding idle pose and running animation, or new stylish idle and attack animations for one handed, etc.

1️⃣9️⃣ Fun unique social activities in cities and towns, such as interactive Tales of Tribute table that two players can use and sit on to play. More interactive visualised board, card and dice games players can do together or watch strangers play.

Or sweetroll eating competition stand, inspired by hotdog eating contests or World of Warcraft's Chowdown https://youtu.be/iIisFxwNhjA

2️⃣0️⃣ Community voting polls. Similar to how minecraft has mob vote, have some polls where players can participate in, through ESO website or ingame to vote for features or anything really.

This might help the player base to feel more listened or involved, and is quick way for Zenimax Bethesda to see what community wants without having to go through posts or feedback too much.

Whoever reading this, friend, stranger, anyone, hope you are doing okay and have nice day! 😊

    these seem like fun ideas.
i love most and they would be welcome additions.

    edited to add:
    9,
i do not love the public dungeon traps idea, but maybe if they are avoidable i would want that.

    20,
polls would be good though i must mention that the Minecraft Mob Votes have stopped and seemed to be really unpopular.

Some of the ideas a definitely fun, but adding more nuisance to public dungeons and delves in forms of traps/pendulums is definitely not something I'd like to see.

So what would be stopping an imprisoned player from just queuing to cyrodil or porting to their player home to escape?

We get these long lists of ideas from time to time. Too much to unpack. Different people will have different opinions about each of them. Becomes difficult to discuss any of them in detail - everyone will focus on different ones and have their own take and the thread becomes a jumble of different conversations.

IMO some look interesting (more social activities); some are frequent, long-time requests (cloaks, new weapon skill lines, hair dying, improvements to bg's and matchmaking); some seem potentially annoying (more traps and such in delves and public dungeons, jail for bounties); some look technically unlikely in the current state of the game (zos has for example discussed how older supported hardware is near its memory limit and it's difficult for the game to support more combat animations).

The execution system / finishing moves sounds like it could be cool on the one hand for solo questing, but would have to be optional as it could present a problem in more high level content where players rely on well-timed rotations, weaving, and animation canceling. And it might not be suitable for group situations, generally.

Given the current pace of development and turnaround time on features, I'd be shocked to see even a couple of these happen within the next year or two, even if zos were to read this and decide they liked an idea and start working on it right this minute. From their own words, it took them quite a bit of development time just to bring us swimming mounts. Point is, it might be better to focus on a couple of your favorite ideas instead of a list of everything. Regardless, it's always good to be thinking about how the game could be better and to make suggestions!

Most of those ideas would be deal breakers for me.

I respect that some ideas might feel like deal breakers and your perspective is equally valid. At the same time, this discussion is a great chance to explore what could work and maybe find middle ground.
Could you share which ideas concern you most and what alternatives you might suggest? We could shape improvements that keep the best of the old while embracing the new.

I think there are too many suggestions here to enable any discussion to be focussed on either a few good ideas, a few bad ideas, or a lot of "meh" ideas. I struggled to read through all of them. One or two that are often raised and likely to be pretty popular in principle such as improving werewolves and fishing got too drowned in a sea of other stuff for the detail to be debated.

Fair, it's a lot! But I think that's kind of the point, throw out a bunch of ideas and see what sparks interest. #1 and #2 don't seem hard to implement and could add some nice flavor and #7 sounds super exciting to me. There's clearly a big demand for it! And fishing overhaul deserve its own thread.

Werewolves used to have access to an extremely limited amount of emotes, but they removed those afaik. Guess WW RP was too OP. Can't let people enjoy the little things.

I would like a back slot for things. Some costumes already do this, hiding weapon/shield by replacing them with something else. I'm guessing it's not easy to implement, but it would be nice. I want to carry those fake Elder Scrolls on my back, not leave them in my house where no one, not even me, gets to see them anyway.

Animations. Yes. Definitely. They should be adjusted to the type of weapon used at least. Why am I swinging a thin (well more like a bulky paddle sword because fantasy games can't do realistic weapons) two-handed sword and it looks like my character is fighting with a cow tied to the end of a stick? Swords are light and fast. You don't swing them the same way you swing a hammer. I'd also like to see the animations NPCs use to sheathe them back. I'm so jealous of my companion when they put their 2-handed sword on their back with a nice flourish. Why can't I do that. Although, after what they did to the templar jabs..... It's better if they don't touch anything. I don't trust them anymore to not make things 100% more hideous than they already are lol

I feel that some of them will create a negative experience, such as traps in public dungeons, and being put in jail.

Others are just too much, such as parties every new year, and making chat bubbles default (I don't want those in my face), and drinks that make players burp green bubbles. These types of things have nothing to do with ESO's story and completely ruin immersion for me.
[EDIT] I want to add that I am all for social interactions and events but feel they should happen within guilds and among friends. We have too many events now and event fatigue is a real thing.

Some of the ideas I don't really desire myself but don't see anything negative about them, such as back armor. But in general I just feel that most of these take ESO away from its story, which should be its main focus.

Lots of cool ideas and small quality of life fixes.

Big no to chat bubbles though, the less UI clutter the better. Also the traps and jail idea is a bit much. :) I already get annoyed if a plant pulls me for the 3th time when I am cruising to my objective. The jail system would just add extra inconvenience and friction to normal day to day playing.

I would also add 'Major overhaul of all base zones'. Updated assets, lighting, water, armor, rocks and vegetation.

Leave chat bubbles alone. Not everyone wants to see bubbles every time someone "talks".

I would rather they spend the time to give each setting an option to make it account wide or per character. Or failing that, let us pick an existing character to import settings from and tweak from there as needed.

I agree with "7️⃣ Barbershop that lets players change their Hairstyles and Adornments for gold."

Disagree with the rest (neutral on werewolves as I'm not one). Many are unnecessary, and some will look a bit tacky or over the top, like the addition of chat bubbles, forced social "activities" or negative encounters like drunken brawls.

More creative emotes would be a better alternative, I think. For example, we have in the past asked for paired animation emotes, like dancing together or what not. Those that are spontaneous, and player-initiated, tend to be more fun.
