So i think this undaunted celebration promotes the bad behavior most of us hate: speed running

I think they def need to change, for an undaunted event, to get a loot box - every boss and side boss needs to be put down, not just the final boss. Doing only the final boss is very much NOT in the spirit of the undaunted character and tradition... even if Turuuk is old and fat...

They can make all bosses drop event things if the issue is skipping the bosses.

Would be great, but think of the poor goblins in FG1.

People have been running the same dungeons for years, why is it a surprise that they don’t want to spend more time than they have to in content that hasn’t been updated in 9 years?

The event doesn't require players to farm FG1 (or any base game dungeon for that matter). If it's so old and boring, there are newer dungeons to run. A couple just in the last month or so, and a couple more a few months before that.

No. I’ve been in this game since the beta and I want to blast through things like FG1 as fast as possible. Those old dungeons are so phenomenally boring. As always, I encourage players to run with guildies or friends if they want to go at a different pace.

I would love if my random queue gave me newer dungeons in priority, that just doesn’t happen often, for me it’s either Lair of Maarselok or Fungal Grotto 1. 😂

I'd rather see the random dungeon finder feature removed than see them start redesigning events and dungeons to force all players to run dungeons in a certain way.

Whatever rules and restrictions people might want to add to the random finder, I couldn't care less, but I'm definitely not ok with solutions to the problems of random groups dictating how I run a dungeon with my friends.

Where is this data showing that the majority of the community doesn't like quick dungeons? The bigger issue I am seeing is new or bad players getting put in dlc dungeons without taunts. Since I am staying away from veteran during the event that is less of an issue, though the two newest DLC dungeons can cause some wipes without positioning.

I have been queueing with my addon to specifically fill in missing quests and stickerbook items, which has been amazing with the quick runs on normal. Usually I would do vets, but I don't trust the queue during the event. I have mostly been running alts using sergeants mail and spell power cure. Leveling random skills and having fun for the most part.

I dont necessarily like speed running.

But if the event is flawed badly enough that we need to change dungeons... then I would rather not have the event.

I don't know which addon the OP uses, but I use DungeonQ4Stickerbook. It gives you an easy way to queue for missing sets and missing quests, and differentiates between DLC and base game dungeons. Works great!

This event puts me off from logging in even more even though it shouldn’t. I don’t know how else it could be structured though. I of course don’t like that motifs drop because the price drops but I understand why it’s done.

No one asked to change the dungeon. the ask is to change the criteria for the event so that it disincentives speed runs during the event.

Why? Requiring players to kill all bosses will not stop them from speedrunning. They will still rush to all the bosses and you'll still get pulled to them. Besides, there's no evidence that most hate speed running. The only time there are speed running complaints is during the undaunted event, and the majority of the time, it's from a player who has been playing the game for years and is in a base game normal dungeon like FG1. If you're queuing for a random normal without any DLC dungeons during the undaunted event, you should fully expect every run is going to be a speedrun. The enemies in these dungeons do next to no damage and die in a couple of hits, and there is a ton of standing around because of dialogue . It's a huge waste of time to go 1 trash pack at a time, catch your breath, search every nook and cranny for a chest that gives nothing since it's base game, and then head onto the next trash pack. If the complaint is about the quests, you can port to the dungeon from a wayshrine, pick up the quest, exit, use the wayshrine to go to the next dungeon, and then queue. FG2 is the only base game dungeon that I know of that can be failed if you're too fast because you can't interact with the cages in combat, and heading to the area with the second cage will despawn the first. The same with the third despawning the second. The rest will automatically update the quest progression with each boss kill.

Yes I use that and Favorite Dungeon Rotation, it lets you star dungeons you want to farm on normal, vet, or both. It helps with the buggy queue, I find that if I queue, cancel, queue I get them to pop more reliably. DungeonQ4Stickerbook only allows you to farm missing sets and quests on normal, I tend to like to farm vet usually. Q4Stickers is the easiest to use though, it has as simple drop down within the specific queue.

And if someone falls in the water accidentally? I do this from time to time when running over the bridge. Besides, do you really want to deal with the Ciirenas the Shepard in FG2 and players that do not follow mechs every time you land there?

There should probably be a speedrun queue or flag...it would solve sooo many issues.

Just make the event box drop off a random mob. Sometimes you're lucky and it's an early one, sometimes you have to slog the whole thing. But the catch is you'll never know......

Speed running during an event like this is just..... illogical....when so many complain that there aren't enough new people doing dungeons. Now, many who avoid grouping may take the chance and, now is the time to teach and guide them, not guarantee they can't even do the quest. But that's my opinion. Many begrudge the extra minute or so to ensure the group, during a group event, is ok.

Speed runners in normal dungeons aren't the problem. The people who think they shouldn't be run fast are.

Even in the vet non dlc dungeons speed running is not a problem. They're old, they're easy, there isn't any mechanics that can't be dps through most of the time either.

And virtually nobody speed runs the dlc dungeons, even on norm.

Speed running is not a problem. The people who cry about it are.

That is a great idea  !!! But they should make it so that the small part leading from the last bridge to the cave is not affected. Also, in addition to that they should also *fix* the terrain so that players can only get out of the water at the cave entrance, which leads back to the entrance of the dungeon.

In general they should rework some of the dungeons and fix all those terrain exploits and stuff which should not be skippable (eg. CoA2 the part where you can walk through the lava and move up the hill - shortcut, FG1&2 jumping down the waterfall and swimming to the boss at the end jumping up the terrain near the bridge, WS skipping the boss in the side room, CoH skipping the boss on the balcony, and so on).

Regarding the *speed-running*. Sadly I think there is no real good and easy to implement solution to that. Everything has its pros and cons. My personal favorites atm are the following to solutions I would like to see  !
    1. Make it so that if you skip lets say more than 10-15% of the adds and bosses all skipped mobs and bosses will spawn at the boss the group is pulled to (joining encounter) and add to ALL npcs, incl. the bosses, a 500% damage buff. With that the group will be wiped for sure and would need to restart the dungeon at the begining, killing everything  .
    2. Make it so that a boss will only drop loot IF the boss before it was killed (excluding special bosses some dungeons do have). You could combine this with an addition to the daily and undaunted quests - making it so that the quests do count through each boss (except the special ones) and only if you killed all of them you will complete the quest and receive your rewards  !

Slaughterfish in the water in FG would just mean more beasties to run past to get to the boss.

And everytime the group stands at the Hardmode Scroll for Minutes at the end and cant touch it because everyone is still infight - making the whole speedruning useless and stupid in the end (or cant go through doors because still infight)

I deal with both in more difficult content every day, and love it. And by both, I mean the "general pug experience" be it dlc dungeons or vet trials in group finder. People don't understand Ciirenas the Shepard because they are co-opted to skip with every pug group that it has become second nature.

Slaughterfish would be no different than other environmental hazards used in other dungeons and trials. And would ultimately not fully deter skipping, but would at least make it more painful and take a little longer, which is a win for players that enjoy the content for the sake of running the content and meeting new potential friends.

100% agree. City of Ash 2 is another one that desperately needs updating. The lava in there needs to function like bloodroot forge lava. Infinite damage scale ramping every 0.5 seconds. Lava is very very hot and hazardous. Only a being like the Valkyn Skoria can resist it, and he is in perpetual and unending pain from wearing lava as his armor and skin.

Hey this is kind of fun, we could actually make up cool rules to cover everyones' various gripes. Lets make boss loot depend on dps / healing done / number of taunts applied. Perform below average for that dungeon and no loot. Anyone who stands still during a run for more than 15 seconds gets teleported into a vet trial alone. Anyone who has to be rezzed owes the rezzer 1k crowns. Any tank without a taunt or healer without a heal or dps who only uses light attacks gets their character deleted. Anyone who doesn't already know and perfectly execute all mechs is immediately banned from running that dungeon ever again until they pass a test. And any dps who starts taunting things gets banished to arc 10 in IA and can never play again until they defeat all of the marauders at the same time.
