Vengeance questions

I've got only one question right now, but the plural in the thread's title is in case other players want to ask questions of their own about Vengeance.

My question is about weapons.

When I look at my character, I'm equipped with my usual weapons on front bar and back bar, although their enchantments, weapon traits, and set bonuses are disabled. So when I look at the available weapons in my inventory, I've got four Ebon weapons and four Yew weapons to choose from, all of normal (white) quality.

My question is about the amount of damage done. On my PCEU main my usual weapon is a legendary Rubedite great axe which does 1571 damage. The Vengeance alternative is an Ebon greatsword which does only 870 damage.

If I leave my Rubedite great axe equipped, will it actually do 1571 damage as it says, or am I basically required to equip the Ebon greatsword which does only about half as much damage?

The only thing your weapon does is providing the corresponding skill line access, the damage is standardized already and the weapon stats doesn't matter.

I see. So the weapon damage stat on the weapon doesn't determine how much damage it does. Thank you!
