Uninstalling deleted my entire ssd

like the title says.
i hadn't played since 2017 or something and wanted to try it out again. but needed to free up SOME space so had to uninstall it to reinstall later....
to my horror my entire drive has been wiped. it was mostly just games but unfortunately some personal game dev projects also got deleted.
What the actual F*&%^*&!!!????!!!! it's 2025.. get your *** together.
safe to safe to say i won't install again... ever
