Arbitrary constraints? Let's add a taco requirement while we're at it. Every player must send a picture to zos of them eating a taco before they go to Cyrodiil and every hour while in Cyrodiil.

A Crafted gear only campaign would be interesting but most likely extremely unpopular.

The problem with these is that zos would have to go overboard designing an introduction and crafting/buying system so players can enter the campaign and learn how it works. Otherwise just like the previous noproc campaign it will not work for new players, they wont understand it and will be worse off because they might use sets that simply are not active.

The reason vengeance works with new players is because it unselects and disables everything for you. Partially why some people have suggested to delete both the u50 and nocp campaigns and just setup a constant vengeance learning area.

As bad as the build power creep gap is in GH new players are still better off in GH with terrible gear based on youtube vids compared to joining a restricted campaign and fighting people with their gear unknowingly de-activated.

Maybe once we see skills based on stats in vengeance we will see them announce sets, morphs and passives. Until then it is a waiting game. At that point it will be interesting to see if they introduce sets in a progression to test stat sets > proc stat sets > proc effect sets. For basically a decade now there are many complaints and gripes with effect sets undermining the GCD skill system and clouding combat with hundreds of unnecessary animations making it harder to understand core combat mechanics like CC's or more important active buffs/debuffs.

Just go into a campaign where that is mostly empty or, even easier, dominated by your character’s faction. Then you can get to the towns with little risk. I recently finished attuning crafting tables to the PvP sets this way.

We already use lots of crafted gear in all campaigns.
What we should have is the old Ravenwatch with no proc sets.
The way Ravenwatch is now, its dead.

As much as I would love to see an alternative mode, I don’t want the old RW back:

    1. It was laggy
    2. It was badly mishandled by ZOS:
    * Nobody knew exactly which sets worked and which sets didn’t
    * The official list of working sets was incomplete from the beginning and never updated
    * List of sets was incoherent: some sets that should have been enabled were not
    * New dlc sets that should have been enabled at launch were not working for months

No wonder it was unpopular. The concept itself is great but the implementation was disastrous.

Honestly, I’m hoping this is what - in essence - the move to Vengeance will accomplish.

    No more broken builds.
    Simplified skills.
    A degree of universality.
    Much improved server performance.

    I can’t wait.

On EU PC it was popular. I played it almost every day. But after they added proc sets, the only ones playing there has been a red ballgroup and a few small pve groups. Its dead right now. It wasnt before.

No proc on pceu started to die off slowly after the first 3-4 months it was implemented. Before they made it no proc Ravenwatch was more popular than Greyhost and was pop locked on almost a daily basis. Claiming anything else isn't too accurate if you ask me. Yes it had population but by no means was it "popular" in the same sense it was prior to becoming no proc. After zos reverted it the damage had already been done, and those who used to play before no proc had either:
A - Left Ravenwatch to play on Greyhost/Blackreach/Battlegrounds
    B - Stopped playing as a whole.

The current problem with PvP is that we've too many campaigns and not enough players who PvP on a regular basis. I personally would remove some campaigns (Icereach + Blackreach or Ravenwatch and nocp IC) as a temporary band aid.

I think the concept was and still is popular, but the implementation was so disastrous that many players didn't bother figuring out what worked, what didn't, and then also having to wait for months for obvious sets to work in there (order's wrath among others), coz devs forgot (yet again) to add a line of code specifically for the no proc campaign.
I played it almost every day too (and I was on a break between jobs so I had the entire day), and IMO it could have used more players. But yeah, it was a campaign alive and now it is completely dead, like U50. Sad to watch.

PVP ISSUES ARE PLAYER MADE CHANGING THE GAME TO FIT EVERYONES WANTS IS WHAT HAS MADE PVP WHAT IT IS TODAY , IF WE WANT REAL CHANGE IN PVP IT STARTS WITH THE PLAYERS NOT TAKING AWAY FROM THE GAME !!!!
players choose their gear set-up's players choose to group up into ball groups players choose to chase 1 player around the map 15v1 PVP is PLAYER choice ZOS can change everything about PVP but without PLAYERS choosing to NOT ZERG , MAKE BALL GROUPS , CHASE THAT 1 PLAYER AROUND MAP IE IE , pvp will never REALLY change and just be an broken shell of what it was in the beginning of ESO ( the real GOLDEN YEARS OF PVP )

Maybe not crafted and overland set only, but definitely pure stat based sets only. Pure stat based sets are the best way to keep build diversity and player choice while maintaining balance. I could make a much more detailed write up about how this idea can be expanded on, but I will make a separate post for that.

So everyone will try to say that Ravenwatch was unpopular and it died once No Proc was implemented, but that’s missing a lot of context.

A lot of people seem to forget that CP 2.0 and the first tests for No Proc happened around the same time. ZOS ended up putting more power into our characters themselves rather than the new CP system. Health pools changed, raw stats changed, and there was a significant shift in time to kill.

There was actually a period of time before ZOS added more defensive CP to CP 2.0 where the time to kill felt lower in CP than in no CP. So Ravenwatch being a No CP campaign faced a lot of change. The difference between CP and no CP in the CP 1.0 system was not at all the same as the difference between CP and no CP in CP 2.0.

On top of that Cyrodiil populations have been in decline for a long time anyway. Ravenwatch is still dead and on most servers Blackreach is too. No Proc isn’t even a factor anymore, there’s just not enough people for multiple campaigns.

It’s time to stop blaming no proc for the death of Ravenwatch though.

PvP community isn't big enough to be divided any more than it already is. They need to fix performance so the PvP crowd will migrate back to the game. Then they can start offering options.
I have a few former guild mates from PvP guild that check in every few months to see if PvP has improved. When it hasn't they again leave. They ask me in Discord if PvP is fixed. I'm guessing a lot of players are still hoping to come back if ZoS ever figures out the performance issues.
and then the parrot said, "must be the water mines green too."

No, PVPers need to participate in PVE to get sets, etc, it is only fair that we PVErs have to experience the other way around - it's about getting people to experience different parts of the game.
