Dismount mechanics

What are the current dismount mechanics in PvP? Yesterday, I was being chased by two AD, all of us were mounted and moving at the same top speed, and they somehow dismounted me. I know I was hit by Weakness to Elements, and then it looked like I was hit by a lightning staff heavy attack. I had my camera facing backward for a bit and it didn't seem like either chaser had dismounted themselves by attacking, an effect I couldn't reproduce. But on top of that, I don't understand what sort of attacks can currently be sprinted through on a mount and which can't. So, in sum:

1. Is there any way to attack while mounted at full gallop without dismounting yourself?
2. Which attacks will dismount a moving enemy?
3. Which attacks will dismount a sprinting mounted enemy?

1. No.
2. All.
3. All.

Being attacked while on a mount drains your mount's stamina. If it reaches zero you are dismounted and stuck in an unbreakable stun. If you don't think you are going to outrun someone, always dismount or you are likely to be a goner before the stun ever even ends.

The only way to really verify what happened would have been to take note of the names of the rider pursuing you as well as have an addon that properly tracks combat events. Then you could at least compare names. It sounds like you *might* have already had weakness applied to you, which will keep ticking for like half a minute or something. Then they might have dismounted and attacked you with a ranged attack from the lightening staff. Without either a detailed event viewer or yourself watching them the whole time though, we could come up with a hundred permutations of how things transpired that could fit the bill.

Twilight Matriarch? If one of the players summoned it, it could get close enough to attack and knock you off your mount. Eventually you were hit by one of status effects from weakness to elements and got dismounted.

what happens to me lately is that i am on my mount with full stamina (i have the Champion node that doesn't drain your mount's stamina when "sprinting" outside of combat slotted) and i get hit once (or sometimes even just run near an enemy, mostly some bandits or wolves) and get dismounted. for whatever reason. i should be able to continue on my mount, as my mount's stamina just started going down, but i get dismounted instead. not fun at all..

Responses were helpful, but just to verify a bit more: If someone hits you with an ability that has a CC component while you are mounted, does this automatically dismount you? IIRC, long ago it would apply the CC while leaving you mounted, making it impossible to use a CC break. I assume that's not happening anymore, but I'm not sure about the actual effect.

As an example, I see someone mounted and use Toppling Charge. Do they 1) just keep going if I didn't do enough damage to their mount's stamina, 2) get stunned and dismounted no matter what, or 3) get stunned and remain mounted?

The answer is choice number 1.
