Delulu wants for PVP

I've been wanting to make a post about this for a while and I'm pretty sure others have probably made similar posts. This is my delulu pvp wish list for things I'd love to see in pvp. I don't think zos actually takes ideas from these posts, but I'm putting it here anyway lol.

1. Houses
I am new to housing compared to other players, but now that I'm in it, I really love buying and decorating homes. I think if ZOS put some houses in pvp, it would do really well. I know for a fact that there are a lot of pvpers like me who love to do housing, and that's not even the only reason. Even if they hate housing and decorating, it would make it a lot easier to switch out your builds and armor without leaving cyro and needing to wait in a queue. I don't know about other campaigns, but for me, once I'm in GH there is no leaving until I'm done because the queue is so high. So I think a lot of pvpers would pay for some cute cyro-themed houses. I feel like it could work like delves and the cheese portal. I really hope this becomes a thing at some point; it's always been my number one delulu want for pvp lol.

2. Guild Traders in PVP
This goes back to us not always having what we need in pvp, but the queue is too high to leave. I know you can claim keeps with a trading guild, but it's not always that easy. You need to be in a trading guild for that faction and have to claim the keep before someone else does. Usually, people claim keeps with joke guilds, which is fine. I love laughing at keep claims. But it would be nice to be able to buy pots and food while in pvp without needing to leave. It would also provide some great ganking spots for people. So I would willingly get ganked if it means I can buy what I need without leaving GH.

3. Personal Siege
One of my biggest bothers in pvp is people who steal my siege, ruin my rotation, and then don't even use my rotation. I don't mind people using my siege, but if you're going to use one, use them all. Most people don't do that, then get mad when I don't rez them because they died to coldfire while actively stealing my siege, lol. To fix this, I think we should have the chance to buy siege that only we can use, or maybe even craft our own siege? I would love to make some cute pink siege that only I can use. I don't know, I'm just throwing ideas out there. I want us to have the choice on if people can use our siege or not. That's all, I don't care how it's done.

4. Free Camps
One of the biggest struggles in pvp, at least on GH EP, is not having enough camps. I like that during MYM we get free camps and repair siege. At this point, our pvp reward boxes don't offer that much. I love the transmute stones; don't change that. However, I think camps and port stones could be added to those boxes. They can't be resold, but they would help people have more camps to drop in pvp, especially since camps are so expensive. I buy about five or six whenever I play and end up using all six within an hour. v.v So please give us camps like you do in MYM.

5. End Of Year Rewards

I think at this point in pvp, winning a campaign doesn't really appeal to most pvpers. There are a select few who still care, but not many. I'm pretty new to pvp compared to others, and even I don't really care that much. It's nice to win, but I don't feel the need to go out of my way to ensure my faction wins. This is because at the moment, we don't really get anything for winning as a faction. I think we get about 20k gold (unsure on the actual amount) and transmute stones. Some might say gold jewelry, but that's not tied to winning specifically. Everyone gets gold jewelry if you've earned enough AP for it. So in reality, we don't really get anything for having our faction win. I think if we added some neat prizes for winning the campaign, it would get people a lot more engaged with their faction. One idea could be a pvp specific crown crate that only the winning faction gets. Oh, it could also be fragments that can be put together to create a pvp mount or a pvp house. The more campaigns your faction wins, the more fragments you get. Again, just throwing ideas out there.

6. PVP Furniture

This one is personal to me and might not be a big deal for others. I don't think in this pvp climate it's fair to lock pvp furniture behind Emperor. It is so hard to get emp in campaigns, especially with boosters, ball groups, and bombers; it's just not an easy task for everyone. I had been trying to get it for a while specifically to unlock the pvp throne (so cute, by the way <3), but it was exhausting. The first time I tried, someone boosted past me and I gave up. The second time, a bomber got ahead of me, which is fine; they worked hard for it. The final time I ended up getting it during MYM in an off-campaign with friends. The fact that it took so long, though, is so bothersome. I think there should be some other restrictions, but not emp. Maybe make it so you need to get Grand Overlord (whatever the final rank title is) or something else. Maybe take all restrictions off and make it super expensive. Either works, I just think locking anything behind emp is wrong. I also think more pvp furniture could be added. I have a whole house themed around pvp and I plan to do another. ;p Also shout out to my friends and the others who helped me emp this mym, the chair looks so good in my home. :)

I had some others I wanted to mention, but I can't remember it. I'll come back and add it when I recall what it was. Anywho, I'm curious to hear what other pvpers would love to see. Please don't mention combat bug lol. We all know that's a major problem and I think zos is working on trying to fix it.

I appreciate the time and effort to organize and argument your ideas, and take into account the potential impact of implementing them in PvP. While I agree to some extent with some of your propositions, I’m rather sceptical about others.

Housing – bit immersion breaking to see all those civilians doing their gardening in awarzone. Unless those houses are destructible and can be claimed as some kind of additional campaign objective, I don’t see any point to it, personally. Then I don’t think housing enthusiasts would be very happy about rams breaking through their MG and tons of rotten meat landing on their lawns. Also, even if it’s instanced like delves, it doesn’t make it any faster to get back to a poplocked campaign.  In fact you can get stuck inside for a while, trying to pass the door just to find yourself still inside after a loading screen.

Personal siege – that could be a nice solution to the typical MYM zone chat toxicity caused by stolen siege. But I totally love seeing potatoes melting down under enemy siege while using my ballista without my permission. That alone might be worth keeping siege as it is.

Free camps – they should be cheaper than recall stones but more expensive than a simple siege imo.You can get a free stock twice per year, together with tons of AP to be able to afford them outside of the event. Use them wisely.

End of Year rewards –I have the impression that winning a campaign isn’t the most rewarding activity forPvPers. What they are after is either “good fights” or high KDR, or perfectly both. Those players don’t care about the score; “the reward of PvP is PvP”, they say. Now, if the rewards were exceptionally shiny and unique, some PvPers might actually get involved in a campaign. But winning a campaign often means taking the whole map while enemies sleep, then farming them at the gate as they wake up, while enjoying all the buffs. I think that could result in more toxicity unless all factions have the same number of players at all times, and the population caps are significantly increased.
In any case, campaigns and the related taking/defending of keeps/scrolls are a point of entry to ESOPvP for PvEers. The dynamics of playing the map can be quite engaging, andPvEers might find it enjoyable so the Cyrodiil population can get some fresh blood. And the rewards should definitely be reinvented and improved to be more attractive to both PvPers and PvEers; they should include tri-stat pots, camps and other siege, fragments of pvp unique mounts and all that good stuff, just populations would need to be healthy so the competition is fair throughout the year.

Furniture – if it makes you play more PvP to achieve it, then it is working as intended and should remain unchanged.

Guild traders – I don’t think they are necessary, with time and practice you bring along everything you need.

Thanks so much for sharing your opinions! I was really curious about what others outside my friend group thought, so this was such an exciting read. ;p

    1. For housing, I don't think it's immersion-breaking since we already have npc houses and towns in cyro. There are lots of random npc you can find there just hanging out or living their lives. My favorite is the guy who is scared to jump in the water and his amused wife. I think having homes in cyro would not only be beneficial but could also make some great spots to gank people. Maybe even some solo 1v1s. I'm not a ganker, though, so I don't know if that's actually appealing or not.

    2. I do agree that I get some satisfaction watching others fall while stealing my siege, lol. I'd still like for it to be a choice of whether we want to share siege or not.

    3. I could agree with camps being cheaper. I don't have a lot of AP saved up, and I buy so much siege when I do play. So if I run out of the camps I purchased, then I usually don't buy any more. That, paired with everyone else who does not buy them, really ruins our keep pushes. So if not free, they should definitely be cheaper.

    4. This one I would disagree with, but only partially. I have a lot of sweaty pvp friends who I've talked to about this. However, I know their opinion won't be the same for all. They do enjoy good fights, but they've also expressed that the reason they don't play the map is because there is no reward for it. Which makes sense to me, why put in all that effort for a little bit of gold.

For the part I disagree with, you don't need to night-cap to win a campaign. It's just that some people choose to night-cap because it's easier to win when there is little resistance. That won't change no matter what, and I've given up talking about it because, at the end of the day, people will play how they want. And I'm in no position to tell people how to play a game they pay for. But I think having a good faction that cares can easily negate whatever night-cappers do. This campaign right now has been the most even it's been in a while. There are still night-cappers and factions who use low pop to get higher, but it can really go any way at this moment. Which is how it should be.

I like the other things you suggested for the end of year rewards, too. I hope more pvers try pvp out, that's how I got into it. However, I don't think they should be coddled and given an easy way into pvp. I like knowing that there are players that are better than me or seeing my faction get knocked down a few times before they come back even stronger. It's very anime of me, I guess, lol. I used to have a lot of pve friends who would often complain about not wanting to pvp because they'll die, and that's a product of pve being too easy. Which is the whole reason I prefer pvp over pve. I like never knowing what the outcome will be but doing it anyway.

    5. It's almost impossible to achieve emp as a solo pvper who does not bomb. I like a challenge, but not this extreme. It didn't make me play more pvp to get it; it made me not want to try. Which is why it took so long for me to even try it on the Ashpit campaign. My first try was three years ago, lol. The only way it would even be possible is if you don't have a job, a life, family, or any responsibilities that require you to take breaks from the game.

    6. I agree, but sometimes you run out. This one isn't really that important to me though.

I know a lot of these are a bit much, that's why I named it a delulu wish list lol.

Still unconvinced about housing. It’s one question to have civilians travelling through a war zone to safety, or a couple of civilians who refuse to leave despite the danger. It is another question altogether to have people buying real estate and moving to live in a war zone, like the conflict is in its final days and the peace treaty already signed. Surely, access to housing could be handy sometimes, but I can only somehow make it fit in my vision of Cyro if it were to be contested.

I’m not a ganker, but I think such housing has quite a ganking potential. If not instanced, it could also be a scroll-troll haven.

Regarding rewards, I’m all in for better ones and your ideas sound good to me. If I talk about nightcapping, it is to give an example of how unbalanced / insufficient population can impact campaigns. If you go to forum’s Campaigns section, and the now defunct Ravenwatch PC EU thread, you can read a bit about how enjoyable it was to most players of any alliance last year, especially between March and September. And that wasn’t even nightcapping. It was 24/24, 7/7 keeping the entire map under control of one and only faction, till even players from the winning faction quit the server; that's how unhealthy it got. A handful of high skill PvPers were controlling the map entirely for several months; nobody random could get emp there anymore. In such context, thanks goodness the rewards are crap so it doesn’t matter whether you win the campaign or not. If they were very shiny and unique, that would be just so much more pain.

Healthy populations and increased caps first, great rewards only after, when there are conditions for fair competition.

When it comes to achieving the Emperor, it is tough and it should be. We talking the Emperor after all! And it is apparently easy on empty campaigns, if it’s just for the achievement, but to me it would feel less rewarding than becoming emp on my home campaign.

I’ve only ever tried it twice, both times on my home campaign; the first time, solo, I got nowhere near.
The second time, I decided to lead pugs during MYM and it worked out very well, at first. I made sure I had all the free time to lead lfgs for many, many hours. I got like 10M AP lead, which I came to regret when it turned out that because of a patch resetting campaigns’ score every 1st of the month the campaign didn’t reset on its normal day coz it was past the 1st of that month. I was emp for 55 days. Enemy players were asking me whether I was killing friends at resources and bears in delves to have so much AP lead. My faction's zerg was all the time requesting I go somewhere and defend smth like it was some kind of a job, and enemy zerglings were swarming me 30v1 give or take, (I was leading fewer groups at that point).
Overall it was a great time, but Emperor can be a miserable experience sometimes despite all the cheese that comes with it.

Just to ilustrate that there are other ways than bombing to get emp "solo".

    1. I can agree with that; I guess maybe in my eagerness to have it, I'm choosing not to care if it breaks immersion lol. I do think it would need to be heavily restricted to avoid people taking scrolls, hammers, or even running back inside to avoid death. I hope they can do something like that. Maybe even a room in one of the inns behind the gate for warriors to rest up.

    2. I've never experienced that much night/day-capping, that does sound awful, and I can see why it would sting even more if they got better rewards too. I don't play on the EU server, but I can imagine it might be something like that on NA campaigns outside of GH and Blackreach. I only play GH NA, so I really have nothing to compare it to. I do think those rewards would benefit the players on the GH campaign though. Which was where my original statement was coming from. Thanks for pointing this out, I hadn't even thought about other campaigns, I sometimes forget people still play on those. I don't think we shouldn't get better rewards though just because some people are taking advantage of empty campaigns.

    3. On the emp thing, I do agree it should be tough, but I don't think it was ever intended to be this tough. Cyro is such a different place than it used to be, at least from what I've been told. All the ball groups, bombers (no too much on you guys and gals, I adore bombers), and the many guilds. It's a lot to compete with. I got my emp during MYM, too, with the help of some friends and some friendly people. To be honest, I didn't even care about being emp, I dropped right after. I only wanted emp for the chair, which brings me back to my original point that the chair shouldn't be locked behind emp. They can put a lot of other, more realistic restrictions behind it, like getting a specific rank, kill count, completing a number of quests, or literally anything else. What you described was a whole lot just to get one piece of furniture. The hammer isn't even locked behind emp. I'm glad you got yours though! ;p

Most of what you're asking for already exists.

We already have PvP furniture. I have my own personal elder scroll on a stand I made in my main home. And we can buy siege engines for our home already as well.

Houses in Cyrodiil is just a bad idea for too many reasons to list.

We already get end of campaign rewards. They're not great to put it mildly when it comes to the 30 day camps, but rewards already exist.

Nothing should be free in game or the system gets abused. Free camps is not a good idea either. People need something to spend their AP on and we don't need every player running around with thousands of camps in their inventory or peppering a line of camps from one end of Cyrodiil to the other. Remember what happened when ZOS accidentally gave away that one golden chair? People got thousands of them and made creative sculptures out of them, but there are still thousands of them sitting in one of my guild banks.

Personal siege is also a bad idea. Not everyone can afford siege, at least not at first. It's also beneficial to have someone else use your siege a lot of times too. It helps if someone sets up more siege than they can use themselves just to keep the siege going as fast as possible. There are many reasons why it's better than anyone can use a siege engine someone else sets up. Of course, if they continue when asked not to then it's griefing and against ToS, just like teabagging is. So there is already an enforcement measure in place to deal with this is you think it's a problem.

We already have guild trader access in Cyrodiil too. Just claim a keep with your guild that has a store and everyone in the faction has access to that guild store.

1. I know we have pvp furniture, my suggestion was to add more. I like the pvp furniture and have used almost every piece in various homes. I just wanted more, I'm greedy like that lol.

    2. Agree to disagree.

    3. That is why I said there should be better end of the year rewards.

    4. Fair point, I can see how that could easily be bad. I've also agreed that making them slightly less expensive was also a good idea.

    5. Agree to disagree. I think craftable/personal siege would allow you to decide if you want to share it or not. So if you are one of those people who want to share, you can still do so. I don't really report people for non serious acts, so that's not an option for me.

    6. Again, I kind of feel like you didn't really read my post. I'm aware they exist and gave my reason for why they aren't always useful. However, I also later stated this one isn't really something I expect us to ever get. Many of these I don't expect us to get, but I like putting my ideas out there in the universe.

Thanks for responding, I honestly do appreciate your opinions. ;p
