Feature Proposal: Thematic Death & Resurrection Animations
I believe that customized actions in The Elder Scrolls Online could extend beyond gathering materials or teleportation. A natural next step in enhancing character identity and immersion would be the introduction of unique death and resurrection animations.
Concept
Players could select from a range of animations tailored to their character’s theme or playstyle. For example:
- Vampiric / Dark Characters – Collapse in a Harkon-inspired fashion and rise again from swirling ash.
- Holy / Templar Characters – Fall within a radiant burst of light, returning as if restored by divine grace.
- Nature / Warden Characters – Dissolve into leaves or roots, re-emerging from the earth.
- Daedric / Cultist Characters – Be consumed by shadow or flame, then reform in a display of dark power.
Rationale- Enhances immersion and personalization without impacting gameplay balance.
- Provides additional avenues for roleplay and narrative expression.
- Introduces greater visual variety during both PvE and PvP encounters.
Implementation
- Animations could function as purely cosmetic unlocks, similar to emotes or personalities.
- Potential availability through the Crown Store, special edition content, or achievement rewards.
While mechanically simple, this feature could significantly enrich the player experience by allowing death and resurrection to reflect the unique theme of each character.
