Way to keep the chat window closed unless i open it?

Instead of the other way around - it constantly opens by itself...

Absolutely. It's as annoying as a mosquito at 2 in the morning.
I don't know a way to get around it, though. It seems every time someone posts in zone chat, it pops up and blovks my view.

My work around.

Create a new tab called MT and disallow all chat in that tab. Set that tab active. No chat. If you want to see chat, open the chat window and select the "chat" tab.

Does that also keep the window from popping up if you inadvertently mouse-over it?

Honestly not sure I rarely move my mouse over that way, unless I want to open chat or one of the other items.
