Tanlorin build

I'm planning to continue to use Tanlorin as companion for my nightblade dual-wield DPS. I can see benefit to her tanking and healing, so am looking at a hybrid.

I'm curious for suggestions for building her, such as which traits to get on her equipment, what weight to use (light or heavy).

I also need to pick a weapon - restoration staff or sword and shield.

Also some skills to pick, though I understand a main thing is skills from trees to get them to level.

Or, anyone want to comment why she is a good pick or not. I'm picking her mainly for comfort with her rapport and comments.

I recommend Restoration staff for them just because of Mystic Fortress, which is a huge emergency heal. Personally, I also run them with heavy armor so they don't die. And the priority skills (from left-to-right) are Mystic Fortress, self-heals to keep them alive, and then heals for me. The way I see it, they're no use dead on the floor, and also no use if they're not healing me, particularly because their damage is pretty low compared to my characters'.

I find Tanlorin an awkward character... In terms of their skills. Certainly Isobel would be the normal pick for your preferred hybrid role.

The tank/healer support role is a balancing act mitigated by cooldowns. Tanlorin benefits from sharing with Bastian an 8 seconds cool down ranged taunt (blazing grasp), and burst heal (kindle).

The only unique tools in their kit with a good mixed use are haze of cinders, which slows enemies and heals allies for 8 secs, with a 12 sec cool down - this is good/great if cast on an enemy in melee range of Tanlorin, and wasted if cast on a ranged enemy. Then the extinguishing breath skill, which damages, stuns AND interrupts nearby enemies AND heals Tanlorin sounds perfect, but with a 16 second cool down it is too inconsistent for harder content, but it makes Tanlorin feel like a beast if any of those effects were needed when they happen to happen.

So you could use a resto staff, and only have a ranged taunt but your usefull skills are in melee range... Or use a sword and shield for a melee range taunt, and be lacking in self-heals and defence buffs.
#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

Thanks for the replies - though it seems there's not a clear answer. Is Zerith-var a better pick, with the same questions.
