Yesterday I downloaded ESO from the site...took about 5 hours at a painfully slow download speed from the ESO server. I couldn't access the menus for key bindings, I couldn't exit the game without shutting it down in "Task Manager". So, I uninstalled if and did a clean install from Steam. Couldn't log in because of issues connecting with Steam even though the 2 accounts are linked. Just goes to show that Zenimax/Bethesda still don't have their acts together after 3 years away from the game.

I just searched for "WeMod" and its top result description literally calls itself a Cheat Engine.

What exactly do you need WeMod for? If it's for modifying your gameplay in single player and offline games, then I'd understand.

I'm pretty sure any program that would manipulate a variety of stuff in ESO (like change the amount of currency you can have, give insane stats, etc.) is meant to trigger a failsafe crash.

You're taking issue with the fact that he presence of a cheat engine on your machine is causing you a problem accessing the game?

WeMod is for single player only and ESO isn't even supported on it. Secondly, why would I jeopardize my account in attempting to use it in the first place. It's not even running when I log into Steam, so it shouldn't trigger anything. But, it's a moot point. I've already uninstalled ESO.

Because it's not even running. It's a single player/offline app, not even supporting ESO.

There are online games that can actually detect known cheat engine programs on your system. Even if its not intended to be used, the game's Anti-Cheat will still throw a fit that you even have it in the first place.

I realise it's a bit late, but Steam itself was having issues the other day (DDoS maybe?) It's always worth checking whether other games are able to launch and sign in besides the one that seems to be having problems.

I have to use Task Manager to close my game. Started a few updates ago. I posted about it in this forum, Gina replied and never heard anything else. Still cannot exit the game with /quit or any menu item. I run vanilla on PC. No Steam or add-ons.

Which version of Windows do you have ? And which CPU ?

I don't have this issue with ESO, but to let you know, I encounter this problem to quit normally with Diablo 4. I have to enforce the game to quit.
I don't know, but some players in forums claim it's a memory leak issue.

I worked with a Dev a few updates ago and they saw some things on their side and fixed them so the game would close. Now as I said, nothing at all works but Task Manager. So irritating! Gina replied and went poof and no response from the Dev so..... Ugh!

Seravi, that you have common with me is an Intel core i9, which is known to cause issues whit its energy saving modes (Intel SpeedShift ...). And an nVidia GPU (I have the RTX 4070 super)

But my PC was running ESO perfectly fine until game update 45 and W11 update 24H2 (was fine with 23H2)
I see you have W10. I'm sorry, I have been playing ESO for 10 years (and Diablo 4 for a few monthes) with my old PC W10 without any issues.
      I can't help
For me the main culprit for my issues is W11 24H2 I guess

      I know..right?? LOL!

I locked my CPU to deal with the voltage issues they have so it won't degrade. I have played ESO since closed Beta and this "kick me out" bug started when the PTS over lapped the live server well over a year ago. Just learned to live with it. :)

Anyone running the 13th or 14th gen Intel CPU and have issues its likely due to the CPU microcode issue. I replaced my 13900k with a 14900k (under warranty), then replaced that with another 14900k (again, warranty). THEN I got intel to write me a check. I bought an AMD and new board and haven't had 1 single issue.

It starts small. Browser tab randomly fails to load, ESO crashes, corrupted saved variable files, even the ESO launcher wouldn't work properly. Once you have the crashing, there is no fix to it. Start an intel RMA. Go for the money, replace it with an AMD. Microcenter offers great conbo deals.

Odd, I have a 13900K and never a single issue running ESO. I don't think my games crashed once in the last 12 months.

You are lucky then. Make sure your bios is updated to prevent getting the microcode issue I've seen too many times. If you watercool your CPU that may also help prevent the issue. Long story short... the bios updates basically lower the voltages so the CPU runs cooler and doesn't cook itself. With the high heat of summer more and more it is popping up now. Firefox even mentioned it recently.
