Those choices are very limited and none of them really apply!

They are nice to have - very nice to have in the case of LazyWritCrafter - but we don't have a huge amount yet and are having many, many problem.

So it you're using them they've probably ruined and improved the game at the same time as it is now

they have improved my gameplay experience.

my favourite add-ons that i remember:
    - Dolgubon's writ crafter
    - Acastanza's Fancy action bar
    - Votan's minimap and fishing add-ons
    - Volcano's stat colours

[snip] I mean, one of the Day 1 addons I saw was "automatic mount training", which skips the dialogue/menu that appears when you talk to a stablemaster to just auto-train whatever stat you set it to when you talk to one. As in, the menu that has three (3) options and which takes probably about a single second to open, select an option, and back out of, lol.

I have downloaded a couple, but I wouldn't say they've "improved" my gameplay experience notably, hence my choice. I like the one that adds colours to stat increases in menus, and tried out the DPS tracker, though I very quickly realized that its usefulness is negligible during a training dummy test, since the game already tells me my final DPS after I finish one, and I ended up never actually looking at it during live combat scenarios when I had more things to worry about.

The majority of the addons so far seem to touch on areas of the game I don't interact with very much, like dedicated trading ones and the crafting writs, which, again, just seems kind of unnecessary to me when we already have an option to only show quest targets while in a crafting station. Maybe there'll be ones I'd actually like to use in the future, but as of now, I have not interacted with them that much.

I like how much easier master writs are now. I also really like the map improvements, especially the treasure maps and nodes.

The long term effects are still impossible to discern.

They keep breaking my auto save file though which is frustrating.

I like the one that helps me find skyshards. ZOS doubled the skill point cost for subclassing, so I'm grateful for an easier way to find skyshards. Having to look them up on another device and then manually place a map pointer using the ESO PS5 game map is a pain.

Some add-ons have no place existing, like Auto-Queue out of Imperial City… that being said, they’ve been great.

I’ve always been of a mind that add-ons should never be more than an UI overlay, and that when they start automating action, it’s an unfair advantage to those not using them.

Keeping that in mind, Add-Ons like Lazy Writs I see no problem with despite the obvious contradiction. Writs provide nothing to gameplay whatsoever and are just busy work, so I appreciate the mod.

Needs a "Too early to tell" option. Because the Addon framework for consoles is too buggy at the moment and it's affecting even pre-addon functionality.

While on the surface some of the addons are a great addition (some disturbingly too efficient), any satisfaction I get from using them is offset by the bugs introduced by the addon framework. It started before they even flipped the switch to enable the addon manager to install the addons, as all settings (craft table filters, map settings, menu settiings, etc..) all stopped working. And actually installing addons just exacerbates and highlights the issue.

Only using Harvest Map and Murf’s Treasures now. Both make finding things so much easier, especially treasure maps and new survey maps. I’ve been known to destroy treasure maps in the past because I can’t find the location after searching for so long. That stupid drawing and a map on my iPad was not enough to find them.

Is the circular minimap working now? I might add that one.

This is an unfair statement. Choosing not to spend time on repetitive, boring tasks isn't lazy. Are we lazy because we choose not to make (most of) our clothes by hand? Thresh our grain instead of using mechanical means? No. There's a better way to do it.

I expect Dulgubon named their wonderful add-on Lazy Writ Creator as a bit of a joke, but the term "Lazy" is weaponized a lot in our society, and it's a sore spot. I am sad that one of the most popular Oakensorc build's name is "Lazy Sorc." It gives the impression that anyone who uses it just wants to clear, and is, in fact, lazy. When many who use it have issues with their hands, or actions per minute, or want a build that they can use to learn mechanics, and then switch to a more powerful build when those mechanics are learned.

When sub-classing was released on console, I used Lazy Writ Creator to earn 6K writ vouchers and level multiple sub-class skill lines in a few minutes. That's amazing. Not lazy.

Pre add-ons, I had pretty much stopped doing durable master crafting writs, because the process was so laborious and boring. This is how I used to do master crafter writs:
    yuavbhas1qeb.png

Now I'm crafting on all 15 of my toons to get as many writs as possible to finish up leveling those sub-classing skills.

This is how I still do alchemy writs:

Only problem is that any settings for add-ons you change (and some game itself settings) after having dismissed this error won't be remember the next time you login. And the fix they give for it, deleting the local save game data, is only a temporary fix. After a few days, the error starts popping up again. This really needs attention from ZOS.

That would be the HarvestMap addon. It shows resource nodes, chests, heavy sacks, etc..

[edit] Dunno that it looks the same on Xbox/PC, as the author had to change up from their custon icons as they didn't seem to display properly on Playstation systems.

I have a neat minimap and I was able to hide the Compass. Sure finding quest objectives is a tad more tedious now, but I just have to open the map to get the direction.

I play on PC so I don't know what's available add on wise for you guys.

An add on ya'll could really benefit from is called "action duration reminder". It puts a little timer on your skill box to let you know when the effect of that skill is about to expire so you know when to reapply it. Cuts down on unneeded reapplications of effects. It also helps save resources because you know not to reapply the buff until the last one is about to wear off.

So glad they could get dulgubons lazy writ creator to you guys. It's a game changer.

I wasn't trying to insinuate anything about people who might have legitimate reasons for needing addons for accessibility reasons, I just found the auto-mount training one to be somewhat hilarious because it truly seems so unnecessary. You still have to go to a stablemaster and talk to them to activate it, so even skipping the single menu screen, I cannot imagine you would save a significant enough amount of time for such an addon to be necessary, even if you had 20 characters and were training them every day. I'd consider myself pretty strict when it comes to trying not to waste my own time, but saving a total of probably one minute per day? Fussing over that is a bit too much for me, lol.

I do get what you're getting at, though. As you say, striving for better efficiency isn't necessarily laziness. However, I do think that there exists a point of "diminishing returns", for lack of a better term, where there's no real point of further optimization - though where that point is depends on the context of what it is exactly that we're trying to make more efficient, of course. The automatic mount training has one, where the benefits of skipping a single menu screen seem very negligible. There's also the fact that people might enjoy repetitive actions, whether IRL or in video games, as routine or even form of relaxation.

As for master writs, they are something I only occasionally interact with, such as during the current Zenithar event, and I thus I find addons that help with them to be unnecessary for me as, on my scale, the process of master writs is pretty straightforward already. Actually going to the correct crafting station is what takes the most time, crafting an item itself and improving it happens in 10 seconds at most. But, I know that the current QoL features we have in the game - namely being able to filter stuff in any crafting menu to only show items relevant to any current writ quest one has - weren't always there, and so these addons were very helpful back in the day, and can imagine that the usefulness of said addons is still worth it for a crafter doing writs on a bigger scale than I do.
