Disguises no Longer Work in Quests (solved)

I'm currently trying to complete Cadwell's Almanac, specifically in Fort Amol. I'm in the stage of "Pride of a Prince" where you have to sneak into the barracks disguised as a Fort Amol guard. I cannot progress as I'm immediately kicked out even while using the disguise I've got in my collections. It's very aggravating and totally blocks progress on the quest.

Can you still not get the actual disguise somewhere in the game? That’s the one that would work, not the style one that they’ve added to our collection.

I tried to pick it up, but when I go into my inventory there's nothing there.

That icon means you already have it in your inventory, use the search bar if you can't find it:

Assume you have to use the picked up disguise, not the outfit. If your discovered the disguise is removed and you have to find an new one.
