Increasing trend in players avoiding picking up Chaosballs in BGs

1) the score ticks so slowly that matches end up going to timer anyway

2) carrying the ball disables Streak, which is unfun and makes no sense in small arenas

3) monster mode has no self sustain, which is unfun and there's not even a payoff compared to a normal minmax build

    Steak is still good enough that someone with high mag regen/pool could be a disproportionate pain in the rear, I get why it's disabled. It also disables cloak.

    But this is an issue. I've seen people run past the ball to go fight the enemy. Nobody cares. I think it's a matter of the design - no-one wants to pick up the ball because it's just not fun. You're not really rewarded for fighting as a ball carrier and most of my times picking up the ball have ended just because the damage ticks got too high (or they got too high and I get gently poked by an enemy and die, or I'm in a transformation, have no healing skill, no allies heal and I die).

    ZOS needs to take a serious look at the mechanics of BGs and adjust them, there are some painfully unfun ongoing issues.

    #3 is definitely a thing.

    It's indicative of how ZOS does not understand how PvP is played. Monsters were clearly designed as an incentive, something temporally powerful and fun. However, these transformations are a downgrade from a good PvP build.
    Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

    You can't permanently disengage in small arenas the way you can in Cyrodiil. Streak DK is why I still play the game, if I can't Streak my build doesn't function because it's also my stun. So that's why I don't grab the ball, and I would imagine most other Storm Calling players similarly don't want to gimp themselves. If the ball is intended to be a handicap like that, then it should also disable blocking, because a full block tank grabbing the ball is even more a pain in the rear.

    the chaos ball should be like volendruung, you are 'holding' a weapon in this case that weapon is the 'chaosball'.

    Chaosball is just a horribly designed mode.
    Picking up the Chaosball basically forces you to die, which is never going to be something that people enjoy.
    The transformation Chaosballs are especially bad because you can not even heal yourself and are completely dependent on your (usually not great) team.

    Especially because there is absolutely no real reward or incentive for actually winning BGs, so most good players (including myself) care a lot more about K/D or just having fun than taking part in the objective.

    For me the worst part about BGs at the moment aren't the modes themselves, I can as Jierdanit said go for K/D or find other ways to make a game more fun, but the biggest problem at the moment is the huge influx of people who have no interest to actually PvP.

    The amount of people with 16-20k HP that aren't even using full set pieces who just join a game to leech experience and expect to get carried by actual PvP:ers is some next level griefing and makes BG's completely miserable. I know it's not possible to report these people because they're not doing anything "wrong" according to the ToS but god do I wish a vote kick system was a thing to get rid of them from BG's.

    Before zos fix/adjust any of the modes this other problem needs to he adressed first. Under no circumstances should people with no intention to PvP or bring a half decent PvP build play with or against people that actually want to enjoy BG's/PvP. The same issue existed in the old format as well and was just as problematic so for anyone who want to blame the format...

    Even in 8v8 solo I'll sometimes see a team that has like 6 of these guys who are clueless and not even trying, I feel bad for the 2 guys actually PvP'ing. Saw one the other day trying to camp on his spawn with the default 16000 hp, like he wasn't even wearing gear. Can we get some minimum requirements or something?

    I've seen that happen as well, the chaos ball dropped in the midst of both teams, and no players making a move to pick it up, so it just resets and stays at the spawn point. I was the only one trying to carry it and I think the rest of the players were just deathmatching around the timer. It doesn't happen that often, imo (though I haven't played since the new patch, so not sure how things are this update), and it's just another example of players sadly not playing the objectives.

    Chaosball isn’t that bad to me. I don’t mind playing the objective, though the transformation ones are so unfun, it’s kind of nuts.

    My big problem mode is Capture the Relic. When one team scores even once, that’s it. They just turtle up in front of their relic and farm kills for the rest of the match.

    I have died to an enemy and friendlies are around yet the chaos ball is ignored. Come back and pick up the same ball. It is quite frustrating sometimes.

    I've experienced this so many times. There should at least be a minimum HP requirement to queue into BGs.
