With subclassing available, will you still be playing alts in the same role as often??

I'm having a lot of fun with Jabs on my dps Stamwarden which has made me much less inclined to play my templar dps these days since Jabs is fun but Beam is not.
Since Assassination skill line is mandatory for maxing dps, there isn't a whole lot of difference between how the two classes play. Likewise Green Balance may be the must have skill line for healers and Bone Tyrant for tanks.
Of course, we're all free to 'Play the way you want' in overland or regular content but not all of us find that a fulfilling experience.

As I'm mostly going after unfinished quests, achievement hunting and that sort of thing, having a one-size-fits-all character suits me better. The only alt I'll play is a character I'm doing loose RP for.

Same for me. I love having only 1 main who gets to be good at everything.

Only thing I would use alts for is to experience a zone main story again. A 'reset zone quest' button would be great, but is probably never going to happen.

my main character has builds for every role and I'll simply change her builds with Subclassing.

i might make my first Dragonknight a healer again with Subclassing as that was difficult with just DK skills, but besides that I'm not planning on changing my 18 other characters' roles.

Up until now, I've been using my alts primarily as mules rather than actively playing on them. U46-- specifically, the Furnishing Vault and the inventory/bank/storage space it's freed up-- is going to allow me to start actively playing on my alts again.

My plans are to keep all of my characters as pure classes for now, mostly because I've never really gotten very familiarized with all of the classes except for Sorcerer and Nightblade, which are the classes on my two main characters (PCNA and PCEU). So my first order of business will be to fully develop each alt and familiarize myself with their class skills.

Once I do that, I'll be in a better position to decide if I want to subclass on any of my characters.

I'm not preoccupied with my DPS, so if I do subclass it wouldn't be for the purpose of maximizing everyone's DPS, but more as a way to build better toolsets on each character for that character's preferred roles and playstyles.

Given the fact that their preferred roles up until now have essentially been serving as mules, you could say that my answer is "No," since anything I do with them in U46 and beyond will be a departure from pre-U46.

But I do intend to keep their roles more or less the same as what I'd originally planned for them before I relegated them to being mules, so in that sense my answer should be "Yes," since I'm not planning to have each character suddenly become a sort of Jack-of-All-Trades.

No, but not for the reasons listed above.

Subclassing has destroyed class identity removing anything special from playing any given class. It makes alts feel pointless and cheap.

I can't stand it and it drives me away from the game.

No subclassing on console yet. My guess is if I continue to play(undecided really) there really won't be any classes anymore. You could have one toon each for each role you like to play, DPS, Healer, Tanks, Roleplay etc. Possibly even just one character and use the Armory Station to switch out(does the station save subclassing?).

All my alts are their own characters with their own dreams, stories, and backgrounds, so this update will breath some new life into some of them, and push the others I've been playing up a notch. I'm very much enjoying the update. This is something I've actually always wanted bc it now feels a little more like an elder scrolls game, being able to try out any type of skills I want to.

And before someone comments something about single player elder scrolls games having classes, those classes are just an amalgamation of already available skills, that even if you dont choose them for use as a major or minor skill, you still have access to them. Your skill level is reduced compared to the other skills, but the player has always had every skill line available.

No, I always wanted to have everything available for 1 character, and now my dreams came true. I can finally do all the content using only my main, for example Western Skyrim storyline with the Draconic Power skill line to imitate the Dragonborn, or Vvardenfell having Animal Companion line, or Mages guild having Elementalist fire-ice build, etc.

I have many ults and I will end up playing them all at some point. I have 3-4 that I "main" in various stages of the games, but I keep my tanks up to date and I keep trying to practice on my DPS to be able to do acceptable DPS on them.

I still play all my alts, and most of them are subclassed without assassination or beam. I hope for a time when every thread made isn't just a veiled shot at subclassing. I think it's time to take a break from the forums. In game in all five guilds I'm in, no one is complaining about subclassing and most are enjoying it. On the forums, it is doom and gloom.

Still a few weeks until subclassing hits console, but honestly I think this will get me to play even more on all my alts. With all the new build possibilities that subclassing opens up, I'll be having tons of fun experimenting and matching their individual setups to the themes I've created for each one, while also making them perform better in their respective roles. Heck, I've already started playing on them more and honing their current builds in preparation, levelling up Undaunted and Fighter's Guild on the characters I've been slacking on.

My main is actually going to be one of the few characters I likely won't subclass, other than to set up one of their armoury builds with the Shadow skill line from Nightblade so I can get access to cloak.

The way I play at the moment is I play on a 'main' until their inventory is full, then I play another toon until their inventory is full, etc, until all the inventories are full. Then I sort the inventories. I plan to keep the specific alts as either a DPS or a Healer, as they are now. I don't tank.

I have 7 alts - one each Necro, DK, Warden and Arc; two NB and two Templar and my main is a sorc . Mostly the alts are only for crafting writs but one Templar I do use very occasionally for PVP. Haven't even thought about subclassing her.

I'm not really interested in sub-classing, with the possible exception of getting the Shadow line on my non-NB characters so they can do Thieves Guild/Dark Brotherhood quests more easily, but I'm in no rush to get that either.

I actually hoped to reduce the number of alts I play. For example, knowing I would be subclassing assassination and herald, I thought I could start playing my nb main in trials again.

But nope. At least not with a beam build because of Arcanist Class Mastery. However, I will be playing my main nb in a non-beam build, probably also using herald.

And PVP has always benefited from race diversity. That's why I have multiple alts of the same class and alliance.

My characters still have their own identity and playstyle. I have 4 DDs, two are the same class, but are set up differently. One's a BattleMage, the other's a pure Pyromancer. Even with subclassing they'll stay that way. Just maybe with different skills.

Subclassing really just makes this into even more of a TES game. At least like a Skyrim game. Even in Oblivion that has classes I still wound up a SpellSword like I always do, and I was supposed to be an Acrobat.

As I don't have a main, I will play the characters I usually play, doing what they usually do. As armoury slots are not account-wide, I don't really know whether I will use subclassing. I haven't even tried it yet.

Additional account-wide armoury slots as part of ESO+ would give me a reason to continue with ESO+ as they're unlikely to ever sell them.

I reinstalled for patch 46 and after levelling up my subclassing I looked for the new content and saw the $85AUD price tag.
So I'll probably uninstall again until the price is more reasonable. No way I'm paying the price of a new AAA game for a trial, half a zone and an overpowered mythic that will get nerfed next patch.

It will probably go on sale with the new zone event and again a second time even cheaper around New Life
