Context: I've maxed every class, leveled every class skill, got all their achievements. Does this allow me to subclass new level 1s right outta the tutorial?

Provided you have at least 1 level 50 character you can pick any subclass line of any tree that you own regardless if you levelled that class to max. (i.e. if you bought arcanist & necro you can use them but if you didn't you have to buy the class from the crown store).

So lets say you have a lvl 50 Templar and nothing else levelled. You make a new character - as long as you go and do the quest you can subclass any class skill line onto that new character.

Yes. I did it already. But farming up the shards to get it going is a bit tough at first. I went straight out of the tutorial to Riften and subclassed. (After I had originally all unlocked).

Somebody else in that situation may be able to answer the question better than this, but I think if you have all the classes leveled on other characters, you have to at least login to those other characters once and get the new level 50 achievement class mastery for that class.

I do not know about new characters, but I was able to subclass Assassination on my Sorc without logging in on my Nightblade first.

I do wish they would have explained that better, in the reveal they made it sound like if you already had leveled the class line on a character you got some benefit from that, but they stated there is another way for people who didn’t. So far, I’m not seeing the difference.

Yeah I thought it was said that having a level 50 character made subsequent sub(multi)classing lines match that level 50 characters skill progress, universally.
I recall another user and myself asking Kevin if having a prior deleted arcanist who reached level 50 would still allow for us to use that skill line progress, and I believe he said no.

If you had logged in your Nightblade, your Sorc would have already reached level 9 in the nightblade subclass line.

ya that isn't true. i logged into my nightblade, then logged into my sorc and both are at level 1 in subclassing.

the ONLY thing i see is that if i level like assasination via a subclass to 35, its 35 on the next character that i subclass into that skill line. but thats it. No benefit from having all pure classes maxed out to 50.

Did you get that level after you finished the intro quest for subclassing? When I finished that quest Assassination I immediately got a message that Assassination was levelled. Not sure if it was 9 though.

I finished the subclassing quest before I started subclassing. I had logged in all my characters beforehand. I started at level 9. I think that's when the first passive shows? Not sure why.

Well okay but that's how it worked for me. Maxed arcanist and necro skill lines on an arcanist and a necro. Subclassed an arcanist and necro line on my warden. They started at level 9.

Yeah there is XP for the quest related to subclassing that is enough to pop the first few levels, especially if you did this on the first day (still in the XP event) with a scroll on.

The xp earned for turning in the subclass quest on one character with one skill from that line on the active skill bar was enough to get to rank 9 in that skill line. This was with +100% xp from the event and 10% from ESO+ but no other source of xp buff (no green cp star buff, no scroll or potion, no Ring of Mara).
