Why do multiple anti-virus programs get triggered by ESO since patch 46?

I hadn't logged in in some months but now every time I load up ESO, it triggers my antivirus.

This has never happened in the past so I'd love to know what's happening here.

    False positive, is my guess.
Happens a little bit too often with Norton. One of the reasons I ditched it.

Honestly, get rid of Norton. Windows Defender is good enough.

Avast doesn't like eso64.exe, either, ever since Update 46 dropped. It still runs after scanning but wants to scan it every time ESO starts. I'm not sure what this has to do with AI, though.

Thanks for your feedback. It looks like this is a problem on my side.

Thanks for your feedback. It looks like this is a problem on my side and not an issue with the game.

    Dear @ZOS_Icy
Please delete this thread (you know you want to).

I have changed nothing about Avast since two days ago so I am actually rather curious why multiple independent virus detection software are suddenly finding eso64.exe suspicious...

Ok, maybe we should keep the thread up. I'll change the title. Thanks mate.

I have Norton like you, and it's the same problem than you. Hopefully this will get fix on the side of Norton soon enough, when they would verify and approve the exe file.

It seems to have been resolved by Norton. It is loaded normally this morning.

During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

One of my guildies posted this on the discord. It looks like patch 46 is also triggering Ransomware warnings....

Looks like the problem hasn't been completely resolved yet.
I'm going to hold my tongue about making jokes over the price of the new Seasons...

I wonder if ZOS changed whatever they are using for anti-cheat.

It could also be that the anticheat got an update resulting in a changed profile.
