i thought id preview some of the new homes even tho i dont own the new solstice dlc, maybe even get the new 3k inn room as ive usually done with every other dlc ive been around for

i managed to preview the bismuth steam baths home just fine, absolutely no issues with that home. then i try previewing the sleepy sloth but im not able to bc i dont own the dlc. i tried visiting other players versions of the sleepy sloth but im barred from that bc of the dlc requirement. does anyone else who does NOT own solstice have the same issue? id have to pay $70 just for the privilege of PREVIEWING an inn room that only costs like 3k gold, is this a bug or feature? is zos really paywalling the act of previewing dinky little inn rooms?

Why would you be able to see (“preview”) something a part of something you don’t own? The inn is a part of the new content. If you haven’t paid for access to that content, then no, you cannot even look at it in-game.

Edit: Why you can preview the other home, I have no idea. That makes way less sense to me than why you can’t preview the inn.

Sounds like if you cannot preview a house you do not own regardless of why, it's limiting access to people who might purchase the content if they like it. ZoS is shooting their selves in their own foot monetarily wise IMO.

I would argue that keeping the homes locked behind the content would be a selling point for the content itself.

Previously, you were able to view any house, regardless of whether or not you owned the DLC. You could even purchase the home in that unowned zone if you wished. This breaks that trend and is not an incentive to purchase the content pass. Besides that fact, inn rooms are acquired for free as long as you have a toon that hasn't completed the housing quest.

yeah and theyre 3k gold if youve completed the quest which is basically nothing. like i make over 5k just from my daily crafting writs which takes like 5 mins to do so idk why The Sleepy Sloth is paywalled like this but not Bismuth Steam Baths

it really sucks that houses can just be paywalled like this for ridiculous prices bc i cant even get into other players version of The Sleepy Sloth so whats even the point of listing homes on house tours if the amount of players who can even enter at all is limited? imagine youve got a guild hall in a dlc zone and some of your guildies cant even get in, thats a bit of a problem right?

It’s always been my understanding of that if you own a home in a DLC zone that you don’t have, you can still go into and out of that house by traveling to it, you just can’t exit that house into the DLC zone. I’m sure that’s why you can get into the Baths because you could actually buy that house. And in room is pretty much a free giveaway that comes with the new DLC, so it stands a reason that you cannot get into that one without owning the DLC. Surely by now someone’s made a YouTube video of it that you could watch there if you want to see what it looks like inside, but I can tell you it’s very small, and similar to the inn room in Summerset.
