It wouldn't be possible for them to stack if you could look at the contents without removing them. Think about it, if you had a stack of 25 master blacksmithing writ envelopes and you were able to look inside one of them to find that it was for a gold Abah's Watch style Torug's Pact dagger but not remove it, how would that envelope stack with the 24 others? How would you be able to look through the envelopes in the stack to find the 1 envelope out of the 25 in the stack that had the writ for a gold Abah's Watch style Torug's Pact dagger again?katanagirl1 wrote: »So there is no way to just pull one out once you look inside? Seems like a bad decision. I keep some in my bank for days when I don’t get them so I can still get some xp and vouchers.

Correct.DenverRalphy wrote: »I'm guessing then that the contents of the writ aren't generated until the container envelope is opened.
I'm unsure if this makes any difference, but it's probably worth trying!DenverRalphy wrote: »So it may be in the player's best interest to open the envelopes with the character that has the best RNG seed for the day hoping for a gold master writ. STRONG disagree. I pretty much always have 500+ master writs clogging up my inventory except when I've just recently gone on a big writ crafting spree to earn tons of XP (I generally only do this during double XP events) or to get vouchers. This change is a MASSIVE help for people like me who do lots of writs.shadyjane62 wrote: »Another bad unnecessary change. I got one of these and ended up opening it right away anyway. Yeah, that would be nice actually. The only thing I would change is to add golden envelopes as well. So we can see which rarity we have gotten, and can actually targetfarm writ vouchers again.

Is this stacking automatic, or can it be done manually? I would prefer to keep them unstacked.
Just open the stackable master writ containers. You will receive master writs that will show what to craft and don‘t stack like before.katanagirl1 wrote: »Is this stacking automatic, or can it be done manually? I would prefer to keep them unstacked.

It will automatically stack those of the same type.
However, all you need to do is 'use' the envelope to convert it into an unstackable writ that functions exactly as they always have.

It seems the unknown ones cannot be banked, so that largely negates the stackable advantage... to me at least.

What is even the point of it? As you say, useless. More bother than it is worth and it was a waste of time and resources to even develop it.

The point of it is that some people save sealed writs until conditions are best to do them, such as 2x exp events. They can end up taking up a great deal of inventory, and this change obviates that.
Khajiit is a huge fan of this unexpected addition. They are already saving this one inventory space - 20 writs have been acquired since yesterday and they only take up 7 bank spots. Bravo!
old_scopie1945 wrote: »But you can't stack opened ones. So if you have, say 500 opened ones stored someplace, well you will still have 500 opened ones at the end of the day. If you keep your stacked ones (if they keep stacking?) to use later, you have to unleash all of them to get at the ones you want. If you use all of your, say, 20 fully levelled crafters all doing crafting dailies, yes there is some point. For someone like me who stacks them and only doing them when they want then, the problem is you can't pick and choose the ones you want to do and keep the stack. It's either all or nothing. I suspect I am not the only one who does this. In which case I can't see any real advantage at the end of the day for us.
That's not true. They can be banked and they can go in guild banks. It seems the unknown ones cannot be banked, so that largely negates the stackable advantage... to me at least.
What do you mean "to get at the ones you want"? The writs inside them aren't generated until you open an envelope, which removes the writ. There's no such thing as "getting at the ones you want" because when you open one you get a randomly generated writ, just as if you had just turned in a daily writ under the old system and received a master writ as a reward. All the stackable envelopes are doing is letting you save up your writ drops until you want to deal with them.old_scopie1945 wrote: »If you keep your stacked ones (if they keep stacking?) to use later, you have to unleash all of them to get at the ones you want.
That doesn't happen. When you've got a stack of the envelopes and you go to open them you only open one at a time, it doesn't open the whole stack at once. The real question here is: What happens when you open a folder that has, say, 100-200 Master Writs in it and you don't have enough inventory space to open it?

So the issue you want addressed is that people have no self control and can't think things through to realize they need to make sure they have inventory/bank space if they want to put a bunch more things in their inventory/bank. OK.DenverRalphy wrote: »The issue I wanted addressed this.. eventually all those freed up bank slots will fill up with other items.
