I bought the season pass, not much more to prep for. I bought a new game "Survive the Fall" and have mostly just been doing daily writs and logging to play that till U46.

I don't see how that's overreacting. I'm not quitting now. I'll see how the changes affect the character I play 99% of the time. If she's still fun to play, great. If she's no longer fun to play, why would I stick around? Leaving a game that's no longer fun would be a normal thing to do. Players do it all the time.

Yeah lol, funny how the same poster was commenting up above how it's just a game, for fun. But I guess that only applies to people who are excited about the changes? If one doesn't like where the game is going, it's perfectly reasonable to express concern, disappointment, or even to reduce or stop playing in favor of something more fun. Just like how I stopped going to my favorite pizza place when they got a new chef and changed the recipe and the food didn't appeal to me anymore.

Unless your running newer hard mode trials or playing PvP there will be no noticeable difference for you on your characters. Subclassing is just raising the potential ceiling for classes.

Only the prologue quest left to do on the character who will be first into the zone.

I had a look at subclassing on the PTS and decided it's not much benefit to me. I use Oakensoul on all my characters, and what few gaps there were in their builds have already been filled by scribing. Scribing also offers more flexibility for picking off missing major/minor buffs.

Not sure I want to do subclassing. I will continue in the old format for the time being.
During the afternoon of Loredas, 6 Sun’s Dawn 2e578 a big piece of Aetherius fell to Nirn. It was the first major piece of Aetherius to fall on Nirn in more than five hundred years. It scattered around the world as millions of shards. It was rapidly documented by Lady Cinnabar of Taneth in her pamphlet Aetherial Fragments that "... when three shards meet, they re-form into a silvery prism by unknown process and confer the power unlocked by the merger to a nearby being." The Order of the Black Worm, commonly known as the Worm Cult, reappeared in Tamriel shortly thereafter and some of its members are avidly searching said shards.
In the last week of First Seed 2e579, an arcane explosion occurred in the Imperial City — a night of storms, and trembling terrain. They named it the "Soulburst". That day Emperor Varen Aquilarios disappeared without a trace. His wife, Clivia Tharn, ascended to the Ruby Throne as Empress Regent under the guidance of the Necromancer Mannimarco. Ushering a time of increased instability within the Empire of Cyrodiil which finally grew into “The Three Banners War”.

I have toons of all classes fully leveled, so I'm just collecting skyshards on alts. I'm planning to subclass only 3 (2 sorcs and a frost warden), but I may as well have extra skill points for all of them just in case.

Nah, ... better beer, coke, soda, what so ever and barbecues. Because it's summer at this time of year.

A good time for an in-game break, anyway. And when I travel to Tamriel again, I can see if everything is going as it should and if there are still a few players around. >:)

    Good read!

Have to say I do share some of your concerns as well, like class identity and pure classes being weaker by comparison. But I am going to look at subclassing and U46 with an open mind, and just roll with it. That is why I wanted to do subclassing first on a character I am going to play a lot. A character which doesn't really feel right to me yet, skillwise. Anyways, this thread wasn't really meant as a subclassing discussion, there are already plenty of those.

Totally forgot about the double exp days coming up, this may allow me to finish some new characters I made on PC NA and finally get them to level 50 on my non-main server.

Not sure what my status is on skilllines and skillpoints needed for subclassing, I may need to do something in regards to this after the update releases. As I have no idea of what to expect of subclassing and how subclassing works at all.

PS: PvP-wise, I do not really care how subclassing affects the game. As I do not PvP anyways.
PPS: Never stop posting your concerns, as only valid feedback can improve a game!

As usual, I'm not taking much notice of the impending changes until they launch, and then I'll likely wait for a couple of incremental patches before worrying about subclassing so that the dust has settled on any initial issues. Then I'll probably try it out on a couple of characters but my initial excitement at the announcement has turned into more of a "meh" response as I share the concern of many at how it may impact on my remaining characters.

I'm really not a huge fan of Subclassing - it's great for people who want that, but it's not something I would use myself. However, I'd honestly prefer that if they were doing it that they'd do it even freer than they are: no double skill point cost, allow trading all three lines, and allow taking multiple lines from the same parent Class.

What I don't like about it is that it's absurdly unbalanced, and makes people who prefer their original three Class lines feel like they're relegated to RP-only characters. I feel like they could have done a bit more to balance this before they brought anything out.

As such, I don't plan to use Subclassing on any of my characters, but I know I'll need it for my trial prog. As such, I'm saving a bunch of master writs so I can grind at least one morph from each skill up as soon as the patch drops so I can be done with it and get my character back to normal ASAP. I'll have to go in on one of my alts to get the DK lines up, but that's not going to be as important since I don't really plan to use those.

But yeah, I'm mostly playing my Skyrim replay and the Oblivion remaster. The tension around the U46 patch, specifically the undeniable yelling-at-a-brick-wall the PTS forum has become, really turned me off of ESO a lot. I wish that we could go back to the PTS being a testing server where legitimate feedback (like "this is literally gamebreaking," which we will have coming out this patch, notably with the Necro corpse limits in PvP) can be taken into account and acted on, instead of just having a PTS for content creators to show off the new stuff one day and then nobody cares for the next 6 weeks.

The only other thing I'm doing is finally moving my one name reserver character from Balfiera to a new holding cell until ZOS is kind enough to make an 8th Class so he can finally get out of there. I wasn't planning on making another character until we got a Class to go with it, but this one did kind of just appear and his backstory just wrote itself before I could do anything about it, even though he doesn't have a class to go with it yet.

It isn't always about DPS. My understanding is that playing a no-pet pure sorcerer will no longer be as viable, which could be a real bummer for anyone who wants to play a pure sorcerer but not use pets. It's about the fun factor too, or wanting to use some skills for role-playing or thematic purposes. Like I said, I'll see how my character feels once the update drops. I'm hoping there won't be much of a difference, but I'll see.

Not really doing much of anything because I want to have my subclasses available for when I continue questing. So for now I'm just getting any open world skyshards that I didn't already have, unlocking all wayshrines throughout Tamriel, and doing dailies for companion rapport and scribing.

As for the skyshards, I'm just getting the open world ones I'm missing just for something to do... not because I need them. Right now I have 70 extra skill points and I'll get the ones back I currently have allocated in two class skill lines right now when I choose two new subclass lines.

That is one question I have about subclassing. I chose to use a template character on the PTS, so I couldn't check with my existing characters. When you subclass a skill line, do you automatically get the spent skill points back, or do you need to hit a shrine and respec them out beforehand? It would make sense for an automatic refund, but I remember a time when you lost any skill points in vampire or werewolf if you cured and didn't respec first.

Only prep work I'm doing is stocking up on skillpoints on each character to offset the double skillpoint cost of subclassed skills. Skills with their morphs will be 4 skill points a piece, and many of the passives will require 6 skillpoints for full effectiveness. Granted you can refund the skill points from the skills you're dumping, but the increased cost can burn if you're starved for skillpoints going in.

I’ve already said I don’t want to subclass, so I won’t rehash that here.

For now, I got the season pass so I could do the new content, will continue doing daily crafting writs and PvP with my current build for as long as I can. Thank goodness I should have those 30 BG tokens by then because I have a no pet sorc right now.

So I guess it’s just lie low and hope the storm blows over and my pure arcanist can still solo some easy group dungeons and run the IA.

If it goes badly then I will re-evaluate. It would be a shame because I just got my GMC tables fully attuned.

So very excited for subclassing. I bought some Armory slots for my alts who didn't have any unused. (The discount + discounted crown packs + surplus subscription crowns made the purchase very cheap)

I'm completing the collection of skyshards and skill points for some characters.

I'm planning on not playing much going forward. All these apparently random changes, like to BG's, vengeance mode, seasons etc. all feel like poorly thought out preparations for officially entering maintenance mode to me.

So I'm just stepping back from the game I used to play daily for over a decade. It feels bad, but all the recent changes all point in the same direction as far as I can tell. I'd like to be wrong about this.

I decided I wanted to start a brand new character for Subclassing rather than do anything with any of my existing characters at this point, so I leveled a new sorcerer only using lightning which turned out to be a pretty fun experience by itself, and that character joined the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild, and did both quest lines all the way through, and continued to collect lore books for the Mages Guild because that fits into his backstory, and he did the prologue for the new season. He’ll start collecting skill points from doing dungeons and group events in public dungeons when he starts leveling his new skill lines.

I geared up and played some characters I hadn't played in a while understanding this would be my last chance to enjoy them as they currently exist. I'm going to miss classes.

Maybe it won't be as bad as I think, but as things now, I see myself taking a step back from the game, unsubbing and maybe playing through the many chapter stories I have paid for but never played.

I prepared popcorn and other snacks, so I can enjoy the show here, when everyone screams "nerf this, nerf that, this combo is OP, subclasses are destroying the game, all critics were right" :DB)

This. Is. Gold. :joy: Love it ^^

Actually im doing nothing, i cant bother less about it. I dont think i will ever change any of my skills on my main DK, i like him how he is.

The only thing i will be prepared for are the new rare drops which drop with the new update, ill be harvesting a lot in the new zone i guess =P

My husband and I will be focused primarily on making our subclass builds that we tested in PTS come to fruition.

I only have a few character ideas, my husband has one for every class, but will focus primarily on his NB main. Probably skyshard and achievement hunting for colors that aren't gatekept from us like group content or aedra-forbid--pvp. lol He says PvP will be ruined but the tradeoff for subclassing is well worth it because he's waited for this feature since the inception of the game.

What was levelling new skills like on PTS? Did they take longer to level, or was it pre-levelled templates?
