Hey all,

I know that on the release of Blackwood, Critical Role did an adventure in Blackwood using D&D 5e. I'm not really a fan of D&D but would love to try run / play a ttrpg within the ESO universe and just wondering if anyone knows of a game system that would go well with it.

Hope that made sense cos it did in my head.

TIA

It can be a little rough, but generic-purpose systems like GURPS or Savage Worlds can be ideal. They are extremely customizable. The cost is a heavy burden on the GM. You basically create your own system within the guidelines, adding or removing the rules you want. Both system books are paid, but they release a lite version with very barebones, simple rules. Savage Worlds also has a lite version, I believe.

I've been working on a TES-inspired ruleset and player options for D&D 5th Edition for a few years now, but as of right now I haven't released it to the public.

Delvebound (used to be called UESTRPG, aka Unofficial Elder Scrolls TRPG) is a pretty fleshed-out system, but similarly to mine, it is also based on the rules of D&D 5E. As has been stated, and what I can confirm personally, you basically have to do the heavy lifting yourself. Choose a game system you like the look of or know well, and start making changes and new options within that system that fits a TES theme.

Slightly off the wall suggestion: Call of Cthulhu (Chaosium).

You'd have to make your own skills with Elder Scrolls flavour, and you might want to fiddle with the lethality because CoC generally expects investigators to die or go mad quite a bit, but it's a skills driven system with skill improvement through use, which is what you'd really want for an Elder Scrolls RPG.

Daggerheart was released yesterday by Critical role so would likely be easily modifiable to fit a TES theme.
