Crown Store Gifting Update

    80 Accounts.
5 of those have eso+ all year round and another 15 or so have eso+ situationally such as Anniversary events or if I feel like doing a lot of writs.
It's always funny to me to see that some of those have gifting unlocked and some don't. I briefly looked at the criteria a long time ago, and generally it does not matter to me.
One account in particular that I consider a main account has not got it unlocked and is annoying when I want to gift my other accounts things. So I understand the frustration for people in this thread when they pay real money for a product they can't use because of some "bad actors" and Zos inability to fix a problem that is not of OUR making.
Some could argue that borders on some sort of legality issue...

I hope any updated criteria helps you folks out.
    Good hunting!

@Servadei - he's saying where he lives (the country) is causing the "no" answer from CS.

Yes. The main problem is that my country is part of EU, so I expect the same policy applies.
Besides that, I don't know if I want to support somebody who flagged me as potential scammer/ cheater for no reason. I haven't been reported for exploits ever, I dont think I got even banned.

I honestly do not understand, why do we need to suffer because they cannot control the so called "bad actors" Instead of trying to actually find/stop them, ZOS decided to block everyone and just let a few pass..

To be fair, this was a huge. legitimate issue with credit card fraud/laundering, etc to the point that ZOS turned off *all* gifting for everyone until they came up with this solution.

Out of the 10 accounts I own (most of them are for guild-management purposes), 7 of them automatically had gifting enabled and the other 3 were granted on the first request. I totally understand that not everyone is having that experience and it sure feels like some of the people being denied are big supporters / long time players / obvious at-a-glance for ZOS that they are almost certainly not "bad actors".

If they gave the precise list of what it takes to get approved, that would provide a roadmap to fraudsters and could jeopardize everyone. But it also feels like there's room for improvement in this system where genuine supporters / non-cheaters could have an easier time of it.

If gifting is not automatically enabled then just never buy crowns and don't even sub to ESO+. (you won't be able to use the crowns you get from the sub however you see fit anyway)

Let ZOS work out how to fix the situation rather than making it our problem.

OK sure. That's everyone's choice to make. But I also feel like they've made a legitimate effort to open up gifting for as many people as possible while blocking as much fraud as possible.

After all, it is absolutely a benefit to their bottom line for legit players to be able to gift. It's not like they don't *want* all legit customers to be able to do this. But as I said, it feels like there is definitely room for improvement to this system, especially when it comes to unlock requests and using common sense to look over someone's activity. (but not knowing how all of this works behind-the-scenes, that's my very non-professional opinion lol)

Which brings up a very important point.

Why hasn't ZOS just come out and told us what the requirements are to enable gifting? They're demanding we fire at a moving target, in the dark and not even telling us which direction is down range. Sorry, this is totally ZOS' fiasco to deal with and they should lose income as a result of their poor customer relations on this issue.

Because as convenient as that would be for us good beans, it would also tell the bad actors how to effectively masquerade as good beans.

I'm guessing their answer would be because it would then provide an exact roadmap for actual criminals to follow.

Like I said, I think they're making solid efforts to allow non-criminals to use this feature while limiting the *rampant* credit card fraud that was happening as much as possible. I have no issues with automated filters that block based on their criteria.

Where I feel it's falling short is, based on anecdotes provided here, when people who should be slam dunk "yesses" are still getting denied because they aren't checking every single box on the list while not being told what criteria they aren't meeting.

For example, a 10 year customer who's bought numerous expansions and subscribed to ESO+ for long periods of time should be a pretty easy "yes" despite whatever other secret criteria they aren't meeting. The stories of people who can't gift their ESO+ crowns, considering the fact that they're being regularly billed with no charge disputes...is especially frustrating to hear about.
