With the upcoming Subclass System in The Elder Scrolls Online, we’re on the verge of a new era of creative freedom. For the first time, players will be able to combine iconic skill lines with any core class, unlocking archetypes that previously existed only in imagination. And few combinations are as thematically rich and exciting as pairing the Daedric Summoning skill line with the Necromancer class. (2 daedric summoning + necro skeleton + necro ghost + blastbones)
Originally designed for Sorcerers, Daedric Summoning centers on conjuring otherworldly entities to aid in battle — a concept that fits beautifully within the fantasy of a classic undead summoner. Now, with subclasses becoming a reality, a Necromancer can finally wield this line and transform their combat style into something truly fearsome:
a true commander of the dead.
But to fully realize this potential, there’s a simple step ZeniMax could take: introducing new skill style variants. Imagine replacing the Clannfear with a reanimated bone beast, or swapping the Winged Twilight for a spectral banshee cloaked in funeral mist. These would be purely visual changes, keeping gameplay balance intact while allowing players to align their appearance with the fantasy they want to embody.
This also strengthens ESO’s roleplay foundation. With subclasses empowering deeper personalization, skill styles would be the final piece of the puzzle — the visual layer that gives form to a player’s creative vision.
The path is open. The mechanics are coming. Now all it takes is one visual nudge for characters like the bone-wielding necromancer summoner to rise from the shadows of concept and step into the light of Tamriel — fully playable, fully expressive, and fully fun.
