[Companion suggestion] your characters as companions

While the companion system is really nice to have, especially compared to other MMOs, I think the restriction with them being removed from changing hairstyle, using collectibles like head markings etc. supposedly to keep their "identity", is questionable. Even more so with thousands of clones running around.

I think if you want to keep the identity of a character and still allow players not only to customize that companion but also be more enticed to collect appareances from the game (in-game reward, store, crown crates), we could go with one the following suggestions :

- Daedric possession
- Soul transfering, such as a powerful mage or ritual transfers a soul to a new body, either willingly (e.g., to avoid death) or forcefully (e.g., body hijacking)
- Memory Transfer (Sotha Sil–Style)
- Ideal Master Pact, the cursed Soul Cairn Bargain
- Time / Reality Manipulation by the Psijic Order
- Shaping Reality (Sheogorath shenanigans)

You would get a short questline with a dialogue option to choose which character you want to use as reference.
Then, if you want to change, within the dialogue/companion menu, you'd have the possibility to select another character.

I was kinda thinking about this same thing myself, because I love the *idea* of the companion system... but frequently find myself annoyed at how it's actually implemented regarding customization.

I have a couple additional thoughts that might be useful too:

    - Hireling Contract (One of your characters hires the other - naturally the Companion is fully customizable because they're a PC, just a PC working in a hired capacity for another PC at the moment. Would also let you make adventuring duos by having each character hire the other so when you play one, the other is at their side.

    - Generic Hireling (Instead of choosing an existing character of yours to hire, you hire a brand new character and your customization of them is just you picking who you hired more or less. "I'm looking for a High Elf fitting this description" for example)

    - Or in the case of certain kinds of desired monster companions (say.. a skeleton or zombie for Necromancers) - just like... let us do a quest for them. "Tame the werebeast!" "Raise your own skeletal minion!" "Create a vampiric thrall!" etc.

Just some ideas I really want to see.

I didn't even think of a hireling system but that would be pretty neat. They wouldn't need many voices actors too : they always release 2 companions. So you could go with one female and male version, but release that customized companion system.

That way they'd still be more lively yet generic and fitting the race/class combo of your choice.

Several of my characters know each other rp wise. Would be great if they could be in game at the same time.
