Flame Staff/Lightning staff

Just a suggestion question thing. Would it be a terrible idea to ask for flame staff to Buff single target and Dots again?
Inferno staff passive would read as this:
Inferno Staves increases your damage done with damage over time and Status Effects by 6%, and Single target abilities by 12%.

Changed from:
Inferno Staves increases your damage done with damage over time and Status Effects by 12%.

I hated when they changed this, and I haven't played with it since in PvP. In PvE, it serves really good for a back bar buff, but not really good for main offensive bar.
You can even leave the DoT and status effect at 12%, i just added that to make sure that the additional buff doesn't make it Over powered.

I just hate how clunky heavy attacks are on the lightning staff. To buff burst playstyles I have to use lightning and it makes heavies really awkward. I'd rather go back to my Inferno staff.

Especially on a night blade, where my only stun is from off balance weaving, and with the lightning staff, its easily blocked. (this is from a PvP standpoint.)

as someone who suggested the idea of direct damage on shock staves vs damage over time on flame staves, the idea was that you don't take flame staves 100% of the time on ranged magic damage builds, as single target damage is of significantly higher value than area of effect damage for raw output. it also is more synergistic with the classes that used those elements, as we know dks are pretty naturally DoT based and sorcs are naturally burst orientated.

adding +12% single target damage done immediately reverts it back to how it was on top of it also increasing dots and status effect damage by 6%. i don't like that at all.

But lightning is Direct damage and channeled , and Flame is only dots and status affects.

So you leave lightning the way it is, and give flame staff some glory back. I'd rather use an inferno staff any day aesthetically, because the heavy attacks on lightning staff are impractical. You also cant medium weave cancel a lightning staff, which was one of the best things about inferno staff.

you could even do "Inferno staves give you 12% additional single target damage and damage over time ABILITIES"

Im so sick of lightning staves, but inferno staff is useless for my builds.

i think the inferno staff is definitely undertuned as is right now, but i think it increasing DoT damage makes it a unique weapon. i think they should simply buff it's DoT damage by a decent bit.

If this change were to be made, Lightning staves would never be used in PvE.

Honestly this passive needs a complete rework. You are never going to be able to balance two options where one gives direct damage as that will always be taken. Then there is the whole flame damage gets buffed by DKs and set bonuses and Lightning doesn’t.

If flame staves are behind currently, I think the best thing they could do without a rework is just to buff the damage to dots and status effects by a little.

That's really the only way to do it without reworking it. Tbh i think it being reworked is unnecessary anyway. In its previous incarnation no-one used lightning staves because flame was so much better. In this case there's logic to using a flame staff but it's just not tuned correctly. Giving flame another 5% might help.
