The problem was not the maintenance per se, but the lack of announcement. No one had an idea that it would happen, when, and how long would it last. The announcement was posted only after it has already started.

Yeah, and? Not seeing an issue here. They pushed a quick hotfix. They did it quickly, no muss no fuss.

The problem is, no one knew if it'd be a quick hotfix or last 12+ hours.
... But I guess some people choose to deny a problem existing even when there are literally dozens of complaints. Nothing anyone can do about that.

All I'm saying is that it's a non issue, and nothing to lose sleep over. The maintenance was barely a blip on the radar, affected very few people, and fell during a time period where regular maintenance usually happens so not a surprising occurance.
Hardly anything to get so worked up that it merits anything more than a "<shrug> What'cha gonna do?".

https://www.statista.com/chart/29679/where-easter-monday-is-a-public-holiday/
This is where Easter Monday is a public holiday. You'll notice it includes almost the entirety of Europe, plus Australia and New Zealand.
If ZOS can't fathom that they sell an entertainment product, not an accounting application, and people consume entertainment in their time off, perhaps they should choose another business. You don't close a cinema on public holidays, or a theatre, or a music venue.

Who closed ESO? Using your analogy.. at best they kicked everybody out of the venue to clean up the trash and the sticky stuff off the floor between shows. When I go to the cinema or a music venue, I get really turned off if the floors are sticky. Even on Holidays.

This was not intentional. We normally put a maintenance banner and it was missed in the process this time. We've made note of it to avoid in the future. Thanks for highlighting this for us to improve upon in the future.

I'm not following. To take this to its natural conclusion, they would close the cinema for cleaning on the Independence Day weekend. Slap bang in the middle of peak hours.

The theater also isn't going to start the movie over because you can't get there at the listed start time. Businesses have schedules and after more than a decade here we should never be surprised by a Monday maintenance even if ZoS fails to announce one. And even on the busiest of weekends they don't start the movie over again immediately after it ends. There is time between showings for a variety of reasons.

Would there be complaints if maintenance was done on the 4th July weekend. Yes there would. There is no difference here (unless people think "but it's America" is the difference).
