Is Major Breach Working Correctly?

I did some testing on world bosses. I have no spell penetration via gear or passives so spell penetration is not capped. No other players around debuffing. I attacked multiple world bosses with and without Major Breach and my calculations come out the same. I am using Weakness to Elements skill. Example:

With no Major Breach: 4509 damage

With Major Breach: 4642 damage

That is a measly 2.91% damage increase. Is that right?

Confirming this bug via CMX screenshots.

Tested by using only Destructive Touch (Shock Touch) and Elemental Susceptibility (Weakness to Elements morph), it seems that, at a minimum, this skill is not applying Major Breach to world bosses:





Scope of impact may be bigger.

EDIT: Puncture/Pierce Armor is also seems to not be applying Major Breach:

Couldn't get consistent numbers on overworld normal enemies/dungeon bosses (probably Sundered procs? Or some scaling buff I'm forgetting), but Major + Minor Breach do seem to be working normally against them. e.g. Heroic Slash dealing 3765 per hit before using Pierce Armor, and 4700-4800 after using Pierce Armor, against Tazkad the Pactmaster:



So this weird Breach immunity seems to only be impacting world bosses.

OK, turns out I was being dumb - World Bosses have less resistance than I was expecting: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/588971/group-boss-world-bosses-resistances

They tend to have 9100 resistance and not the 18200 resistance I was remembering. My CMX tests were overpenetrating due to The Lover and the destruction staff passive Penetrating Magic. After removing The Lover, I'm getting numbers closer to expectation.

cjechurchill, are you sure that in your tests you didn't have The Lover providing penetration? If you were using Destruction Staff to deal damage, remember that Penetrating Magic passive adds 2974 penetration without showing up on the character sheet main penetration stats

EDIT: Re-test showing Major Breach IS working even against world bosses:


5883 damage with

5579 damage without

5883/5579 = 1.055

My penetration before was character sheet of 3540 plus destruction staff passive of 2974 = 6514 penetration

Major Breach would overcap, 9100 penetration, 9100-6514 = 2586 additional penetration

Armor provides 1% DR per 500 armor for enemies, so 2586/500 = 5.172, which about lines up with my 5.5% increased damage amount

Yes the ~18k resist is for dungeons and trials. Overland is 9100.

There are a few exceptions. Dragons have 13,650. Vro-Kuul-Sha has 18.2k. (Not all Apocrypha WBs, much less all DLC ones, have this extra armor, though. The one at Chthon Plaza is 9.1k.)

OP, thanks for posting this - it led to finding out that Onslaught is bugged. Berserker Strike still works to figure out resistance values.
