a better idea for subclasses ...

i think it'd be cool if you could pair together certain skills from certain classes to create an actual named subclass, eg. 'elementalist', 'pet master' (forgive names! that one needs refinement), 'shadow warrior?' etc etc and many, many more. i think the way they're presenting it is you can mix and match any kind of skill, but i think it would help to provide specific subclasses, with achievements attached to creating them, and all with specific names, and this will maybe ... maybe help preserve class identity. i doubt they would implement something like this now, because they've probably got it all set up to roll out, and what i'm suggesting would be a lot of extra work, so i don't believe this has a chance of happening, but i think it's a nice idea.

Players will give popular builds names, just like they do now.

As for preserving class identity I think that's up to the player, they can pick skills which fit how they see their character and avoid ones which don't work.

For example a warden might use the sorcerer's Storm Calling abilities so they can cast lightning spells instead of or as well as frost ones, but they'd avoid the Summoning skill line because the warden for them is all about using Nirn's natural magic and summoning Daedra into it is the opposite of that.

But then another warden might only use the Summoning skill line because they want to make a 'pet master' or a summoner or whatever you want to call it, and if anything it's less strange to make a daedra appear from thin air than a bear.

If they're going to open up multiclassing I think it's better to let players decide which combinations work for them than try to police who's idea of their class identity is right or wrong.

    Some dumb name ideas:
    Sorc + NB: Silent Storm
    DK + templar: Firelight
    Necro + arcanist: Dead Poet
    NB + DK: Nightfire
    Sorc + templar: Divine Lightning
    Necro + NB: Ghost
    NB + templar: Darklight
Necro + templar: The duality of man Deadlight
    Sorc + arcanist: Daedric scholar
    Warden + DK: Forest Fire?

    I disagree. NB + DK: Nightknight. 😂
