My thoughts on Subclassing

This has bothered me for over 10 years. When you are doing the main story quest and Abnur Tharn has you constrct a flesh atronach and says, "We'll make a Necromancer out of you yet." I'm playing on my main, a Sorcerer. Years later I hear they are putting Necromancy in the game. I'm really excited, then I learn it's a class, not a skill line. I've always said, "I wish any class can learn any skill, that's freedom in the game." It's over 10 years later and we will finally have the freedom to do so.

I've often thought, "You mean to tell me that a Sorcerer can not go invisible like a Nightblade, or a Nightblade can not learn how to cast a spell from a Sorcerer?" The list goes on and on.

Bottom line, Subclassing is awesome. This will get old and new players really excited to play Eso.

Thank you, Zos for adding this to the game.

i guess my problem, which i mentioned in another post, is that it might or will minimise the classes altogether. there'll be this one meta class. anyway, i suppose any of us can just choose to ignore the meta and mix and match whatever class skill lines we want. i just find that hard to do when you're doing vet end-game content, where everyone's forcing you to use the latest hybrid build, brought to us by hybridisation. so i imagine that will happen with subclassing

Agreed. It gets the game closer to a true elder scrolls character build system.

It might be a good idea. It might not. I'll reserve judgement until it goes live or at least through its PTS cycle and players can start discussing it openly in detail.

I don't see it going well. It'll get to the point where in both PVE and PVP, there will be 1 or 2 meta builds that you'll essentially be forced to use if you want to remain competitive.

None of the possible problems (like this one) people are speaking out about, are new. This already happens, it's just going to happen with something else that will be added to the game. Generally speaking, any game with build crafting has a rigid meta issue, the issue begins when it's not 'socially' acceptable to deviate from that, because it's an mmo, then you get plenty of toxic players demanding you to fit in.

I honestly don't think this is a ZOS problem. It's a players problem, i'm sure there will be a lot of comparable combinations, but one that might be considered top tier is going to be pushed by demanding players, in a completely unreasonable and unnecessary way, that already happens with gear, and class skills.
