Hang tight. There is more stuff coming to ESO+ that they'll talk about later in the post-show.

It's exactly the same as it's always been.

Realistically all they did was rename the purchase from Chapter to Content Pass. Probably because they won't be releasing all new content in one big update with that purchase. So each year you buy one content pass, and all content/updates throughout the year are included. Other than that, everything operates exactly like it always has.

Gina said they'd mention additional ESO+ benefits if you stick around to the end of the broadcast - which has just failed, which doesn't help.

Yeah but this time the new dungeons are part of the content pass. That wasn't the case before with chapters.

This is very great for people like me who purchased all the dungeons before.

They also said two times specifically 'you own that content from the pass'. So they are aware that there are a lot of people who don't want to be funneled into a subscription.

No. Chapters didn't include the two dungeon DLCs. Now ESO+ subscribers have to pay for a content pass that includes those two DLCs. So either they should pay less (because the two dungeon DLCs are redundant for them), or they need to add more to ESO+.

    No.

Before, you had Chapter and Dungeon Packs.

You bought the Chapter separately but got the Dungeon Packs with ESO+.

Now, the "Chapter" includes the dungeons. There is nothing you get included with ESO+.

ESO Plus never gave you access to brand new content. Not until usually a year later when more new content came out... then the previous year usually became accessible with Plus.
I don't see any change here, we won't know if this new content will move to Plus until probably next year.
Exceptions to the Plus rule were areas like Summerset (because of the jewelry crafting) etc., but from what I've read Plus still gives you access to past 'new' content and zones and since it never did for the current years new content why would it now?

ESO+ subscribers aren't complaining because they don't get the content pass for free. They have a valid complaint because dungeon DLCs are a perk of ESO+, but now they're included in the content pass that ESO+ subscribers have to pay for. That effectively removes that perk.

I apparently missed the main stream showing this all off show how, despite having the website open ready and joined at the right time, and am watching the post show. I do like that now we get everything in the year without having to rely on ESO+ or seperate purchases (I.E Dungeon Packs), but I hope these remain a *one time yearly* purchase, and not a *single* content pass. This one lasts for a year since this season does, but what if they release two shorter seasons in a year? Are they going to try and drop the £40 price tag on us twice that year?

    from the pass FAQ:

    Q. Will content that requires The Elder Scrolls Online: 2025 Content Pass (or 2025 Premium Edition) also be available via ESO Plus and/or the Crown Store at launch?
    A. The Fallen Banners dungeon pack (now live) and the Feast of Shadows dungeon pack (arriving Q3) will both be available via ESO Plus membership or a Crown Store purchase in addition to the 2025 Content Pass or 2025 Premium Edition.

so Dungeons will be available for ESO+ without content pass
couldn´t find fallen banners in crown store yet so I am not so sure if the "buy for Crown option is as described here

Plus won't cover the new storyline and the new zone it takes place in. And the event.
To me, it's really no different from the past where the new Chapters weren't included in Plus either, but new dungeons tended to be.

    That's just wrong.
Before the introduction of chapters with Morrowind in 2017, all DLC was immediately available with ESO+. That was the whole point.
After, only chapters weren't immediately included in ESO+. Q1, Q3 and Q4 DLC were always immediately available.

This is just stupid. They really found a way to make things even more complicated. With the new types of content they want to experiment with, how are they going to decide what will be included in ESO+ and what won't? This year, the dungeons are apparently included, while nothing else is. What about next year? Who knows!
Why would I commit to a subscription for lets say 6 months when I don't know what kind of content will be included in this? Absolute disaster.

Guess I'm finally priced out of this game.

That's not true is it. There were 4 releases a year and only 1 needed to be paid for separately for access; 3 were available for free with ESO+

Now we're being forced to buy dungeons whether we want them or not, as well as the second half of the zone which would've previously been another zone/release. The dungeons will still be free on ESO+ for people who don't buy the pass, and meanwhile those who bought it had to pay to own them just to get access to the rebranded chapter.

So what am I getting from ESO+ if I now have to buy all 4 releases instead of just 1?

But in the past we could pay only for the chapters and not for the dungeons. Now if we want to buy the "chapter" type content we also need to pay for the dungeons. Why should we pay for what we already have paid access to?
There should be an option for ESO+ subscribers to opt out of buying the dungeons. (If we then later drop ESO+ that's our issue to deal with)

If you were a non ESO+ player, the content used to be $90/year.
If you were an ESO+ player, the content used to be $40/year.

    And now it's $50/year.
It's not a terrible deal by any means. Might even be cheaper than content was before, depending on the scope of the zone.

But it does suck a lot that it's not included with ESO+ and that we don't have the option to buy the zone without the dungeons.

If there was an option to pay $30 for the zone without the dungeons, I'd take that.

What about gold road? will that then be the only one not included in ESO+ ? like I have a friend that bought the necrom version and has ESO+ now ... but they really have to get the premium version of the content pass to get gold road too? that would be crazy
I am very confused atm since the only info around is just about the new content pass and silence about ESO+

Every single previous Chapter was added to ESO+ and the crown store after a year, I don't see any reason why Gold Road wouldn't be too

They really need to figure out their monetization. To have a box price for chapters, a separate price for quarterly DLC, and another price for a monthly sub is crazy. And the sub gets you DLC, but not old chapters? It’s just a mess.

You can play wow and pay the same price for a ton more content, you can play guild wars 2 and get the same level of content for like 25 dollars a year. Or you can play ESO lol. I love this game but man is it pricy.

As someone said up-thread, it's essentially asking ESO+ subscribers to pay for content they already get with their subscription.

A non-subscriber pays 49.99 for access to 5 things. An ESO+ subscriber pays 49.99 for access to 3 things (they already have access to the other 2 things through their subscription).

That's not fair to subscribers, which is why it sounds like they'll be announcing something new for ESO+ later in the post-show.
